Life
[edit]Franco Polloni was born in Sorengo on May 3rd, 1965 and he is a Swiss citizen. He earned a degree in economics (lic.oec.publ.) from the University of Zurich and holds diplomas as a Swiss federal tax expert, as a Trust and Estate Practitioners from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). In 2011 he attended the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. He is member of the General Management of BSI Switzerland - with the rank of Senior Vice President - and he his responsible for the Division Private Banking Ticino & Central Switzerland, which also includes the responsibility private and commercial credits for Switzerland.
Polloni began his career in 1993 with Ernst & Young Zurich, were he worked as a tax consultant until 1996. In that year, he moved to the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern, where he served as an economic advisor to the Minister for foreign affairs. In 1997 he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in Lugano to work as tax manager, the position he held until joining Banca del Gottardo - a subsidiary of the Swiss Life Group- on February 1st 2001.
At Banca del Gottardo he performed a number of key roles in client relationship management and wealth planning. From 2002 until 2006 he was Group Head Wealth Planning of Banca del Gottardo. In 2006 he was appointed to the Group Executive Board of Banca del Gottardo as Head of the Products & Services, a division including wealth planning, lending services, product management, investment advisory and banking services for the Swiss Life Group.
After the merger of Banca del Gottardo in BSI (2008), he was confirmed as a member of the General Management with responsibility for the Group Wealth Management Services. Effective January 1st 2011, he became Head of the Private Banking Ticino & Lending Advisory Division and since July 1st 2012 he has been appointed Head of Private Banking Ticino & Central Switzerland.
Franco Polloni is a former member of the Commission for Tax and Finance Policy of the Swiss Bankers Association. He is member of the Fiscal Commission of the Ticino Bankers Association, of the Swiss Fiduciary Chamber, of the International Fiscal Association, of the Swiss Financial Planners Organization (SFPO), of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Board of the Lugano Commodity Trading Association.
In April 2009 he was elected Chairman of the Ticino Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce. On 1.1.2012 he became a Board member of the Ticino Bankers Association.
Franco Polloni is regularly asked to hold lectures and seminars on wealth management and financial planning related topics at the Institute for Banking Studies in Lugano.
