Elizabeth Amelia Jones, known professionally as Beth Powers, (7 April 1917-‡19 March 2004), was an acclaimed American acttess known for her work on theatre, cinema and television throughout the period from '30s to '80s. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress five times for her perforances in The Lost Charm (1943), A Tale of Two Cities (1948), Dark Afternoon (1956), Sound of the Wind (1968) and Red Emmeralds (1977). She was nominated two more times and she also won two Oscar for featured roles for The Mansion by the Lake (1962) and On Silver Lake (1981). A versatile and widely acclaiemed thespian, she also garnered 3 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a MusicalTony Awards for her musical stage performances and further 2 for her dramatic roles.
