Steve Pallet is a Jersey politician, and an elected member of the States Assembly since 14 November 2018. He has previously served as the Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Steve Pallett was educated at St Marks Primary and Hautlieu secondary school.[3]

Political career[edit]

Connétable[edit]

First elected as Connétable of St Brelade in 2011,[4], and sworn into office on the 14th of November 2011. Pallett was re-elected unopposed in 2014.[5][6]

Pallet was then appointed as Assistant Minister for Economic Development and Assistant Minister for Planning and Environment in 2014.[7]. During 2014 ministerial portfolio changes, Pallet was also appointed interim Assistant Minister for Education, Sport and Culture.[7] After a short handover period, he was then replaced by Deputy Anne Pryke as Assistant Minister of Education.[8]

In July 2016 he apologised for wasting taxpayers money after inadvertently flying to Budapest, Hungary, instead of Bucharest, Romania.[9]

Senator[edit]

In 2018 he successfully ran for Senator coming fifth after gaining 12,114 island-wide votes.[10]

On 15 June 2018 Pallett was officially appointed Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture and Assistant Minister for Health and Social Services[2] where he served up until November 2020 when he resigned from both posts in support of a vote of no confidence against the current Chief Minister John Le Fondré.[11]
