Personal Version Control also known as real-time backup is a type of Revision Control software that is intended to be used by a single person as opposed to a team [1][2]. It's purpose is to be an easy way to access past versions of a computer file.
Overview[edit]
Personal version control systems were created with the purpose of helping content creators manage multiple revisions of their files. Without some sort of version control system, content creators would save past versions of their files with different names. This practice would cause them to have many files with no clear way to know which ones were important[3], .
Common Features[edit]
The most common "feature" that personal version control systems claim to have is that they are simple to use[4][5][6]. The less subjective common features are below:
- Continuous Data Protection - when ever a file is changed the system automatically creates a backup
- Notes - the option to add a note or description to revisions of a file
