Living Labs Global Award

The Living Labs Global Award (LLGA) is an award programme that has been running since 2009. The Award works together with cities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to present major societal challenges affecting more than 125 million people. In the past two editions more than 800 solution providers have responded to those challenges with often ground breaking technologies.

The LLGA is the world’s most significant call for solutions and it has changed how global markets work in the area of service provision, mobility and innovation in cities.

How the Award works

Living Labs Global conducts a selection process in which dialogues are held with more than 250 global cities. As a result, for the 2012 edition 21 cities with more than 90 million citizens have joined the initiative. The cities that take part make a commitment to

• present a real challenge
• adhere to the accountable and transparent jury process,
• invite the winning solution provider to pilot their solution in the city

Winners of the Living Labs Global Award are invited to implement a pilot of their solution to evaluate impact, provide input into product development, and improve procurement or regulatory decisions by cities later on.
