Body Science International

Origin and history

Body Science (BSc), is a major sports nutrition and sportswear supplier based in Australia.

The company was founded in 1999 under the name BSc physical and mental performance and officially became Bodyscience International in 2003. Body Science markets its products under its own brand as well as BSc, Body Science Skin, Body and BSc Fuel. Body Science sponsors several high profile Australian athletes and teams with the highly recognised trademarks of “BSc” and are considered to be leaders amongst the Australian sports nutrition and compression industry. Body Science supplies nutrition and compression to a host of National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), A-League and Super 15 teams along with several high profile elite Australian Athletes.

Products

Body Science started production in 1999 with two nutrition products in the form of Whey Protein Isolate and Tribulus Terrestris.

BSc now formulates, manufactures and distributes a wide array of capsules, tablets, powders and its own specialty compression sports garment known as Targeted Compression. Currently BSc is the only well known brand globally that dually produces high quality nutrition and compression garments.

Sports Nutrition

The shift in sporting professionalism in the early 2000’s has led to sports nutrition, more commonly known as supplements to be of great interest to athletes. Improved athlete understanding on how sports nutrition leads to optimal performance and lifetime health benefits has led to massive growth within the sports nutrition industry. Body Science is currently one of the biggest sports nutrition Brands in Asia Pacific with several high profile athletes including Geoff Huegill, Andrew Bogut, Craig Alexander, Shane Watson and Sam Burgess being brand ambassadors for BSc. BSc nutrition range is quite vast in nature and includes protein powders, creatine, amino’s, vitamins and minerals, electrolytes, bars and several other specialty nutritional blends.

Targeted Compression

Graded compression refers to the compression exerted by the garments differs over a given distance. If long lower body garments are used as an example, compression at the ankle and calf is higher than at the thigh. This facilitates the flow of blood through the deep veins back towards the heart helping to induce increased exercise performance. BSc Targeted Compression takes the concept of sports compression to the next level via a patent pending design that targets muscle groups via panels and seams so compression is applied to individual targeted muscle groups. The concept behind this design of compression is to allow the garment to provide improved levels of compression, increase garment flexibility through flexion and extension along with providing increased muscular support to targeted muscles. Similar to BSc nutrition, BSc sports compression is one of the biggest compression brand Asia Pacific with several high profile athletes and teams endorsing the use of BSc compression.
