Evaluate an article
Complete your article evaluation below. Here are the key aspects to consider: Lead sectionA good lead section defines the topic and provides a concise overview. A reader who just wants to identify the topic can read the first sentence. A reader who wants a very brief overview of the most important things about it can read the first paragraph. A reader who wants a quick overview can read the whole lead section.
ContentA good Wikipedia article should cover all the important aspects of a topic, without putting too much weight on one part while neglecting another.
Tone and BalanceWikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view; if there are substantial differences of interpretation or controversies among published, reliable sources, those views should be described as fairly as possible.
Sources and ReferencesA Wikipedia article should be based on the best sources available for the topic at hand. When possible, this means academic and peer-reviewed publications or scholarly books.
Organization and writing qualityThe writing should be clear and professional, the content should be organized sensibly into sections.
Images and Media
Talk page discussionThe article's talk page — and any discussions among other Wikipedia editors that have been taking place there — can be a useful window into the state of an article, and might help you focus on important aspects that you didn't think of.
Overall impressions
Examples of good feedbackA good article evaluation can take a number of forms. The most essential things are to clearly identify the biggest shortcomings, and provide specific guidance on how the article can be improved. |

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?[edit]
Each of our group members knows a close friend or family member who struggled to come to terms with their disability status because of stigma that exists within our society. Therefore, we got to talking about how powerful such stigma can be in preventing individuals from seeking the care and support they need. By promoting awareness about internalized ableism and working toward destigmatizing disability, we hope we can empower more individuals with disabilities to seek care and/or support.
Evaluate the article[edit]
The lead does effectively define ableism and provides a concise overview of the article, and the titles of the subtopics definitely help with structuring the article and helping the reader to move through it easily. The article does include relevant sections, and focuses especially on individuals with disabilities and their interaction with the disabled community as well as society as a whole. However, under the Types of Ableism section, there is only one section that briefly discusses internalized ableism, which is why we wanted to expand on it. I thought the article was fairly neutral and did a great job of presenting various viewpoints equally. Current sources are relevant and there are a plethora of sources cited, but I think the article could benefit from being updated with more current sources. There's not too many pictures, so I think it may be more helpful to add pictures that will promote engagement with the article and also better communicate the massive impact of internalized ableism in a way that can be better understood. There is not much edits on the Talk page, other than a suggestion that this article be added to the Discrimination Series Sidebar, and the term "autiphobia" being flagged for relevance. I think the article is well fleshed out at this point, but I think elaborating upon the "internalized ableism" section can add a level of nuance and add another perspective to the topic at hand. Additionally, adding more pictures would help to enhance the article in terms of engagement and impact.
