This is a page about User:Salmar. You are probably here by mistake, but, if you think not, I suppose you can keep reading.
I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but have lived in Wisconsin for almost as long as I can remember; I am a freshman at Marquette University in Milwaukee and will major in computer science. Besides being a programmer, I plan on becomming a published author; I am working on a novel and have several more planned.
My interests are many and varied, but include modern physics and string theory, calculus, ancient Egypt, languages (unfortunately, while I have a very basic knowledge of many, I have not had the time to actually learn many of them), poetry—favorites include "Kubla Khan", the "Lament of Galadriel" in The Lord of the Rings (odd, I'm sure), Beowulf and Kalevala (perhaps even more oddly, I read those not only in translation, but aloud in their original languages, which I barely understand ... I just liked the sounds of them)—science fiction and fantasy novels, everything that relates to J.R.R. Tolkien and constructed languages of which I have made a few (and am working on more!). I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of off hand.

I discovered Wikipedia sometime early in 2005, and made my first edit on June 5, 2005; however, I didn't create an account until November 20 of that year. Since then, I have created several articles and made many more edits. I have also joined WikiProject Wisconsin and WikiProject National Register of Historic Places (alas, I'm afraid I've done less there than I should). I also frequenly browse the lists at WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles, although I don't consider myself a member. I am currently working on a draft of an article I hope to improve to good status, and then, in September, when I have access to Marquette's library, rather than the poor one in my town, I plan to start participating in One Featured Article per quarter; I already have an article picked out.
