Mohammad Enver Baig (Urdu: محمد انور بیگ) is a Pakistani politician and former member of Senate of Pakistan, he served as Chairperson-Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) during 2013–14.[1]

Political career[edit]

Baig remained a member of the senate of Pakistan from 2003 to 2009 on the ticket of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).[2] In 2012, he joined Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) after PPP suspended his party membership due to alleged party discipline violation.[3] Baig was appointed as chairman of BISP by President Mamnoon Hussain in November 2012 on Prime Minister's advice.[4] He resigned from the post a year later, in November 2014, and was appointed as chairman of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), a lesser position the BISP Chairman.[5]

Achievments[edit]

Baig remained as Honorary Council General of The Republic of Uruguay in Pakistan, President of Pakistan Overseas Employment Promotors association during 1982–83. He also Chaired Senate's Standing Committee Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis and Federation, and Standing Committee on Diplomatic affairs Federation of Pakistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) 1994–95 and 1995–1998. Baig was also member of Policy Planning Wing of PPP. [6]
