Well done. Is the Hogster the next target? Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:23, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm thinking about Gilo if you fancy collaborating. Its a good un-sectioned start at the moment, and as his career has finished, it is less problematic than someone like Hoggard. As a long-term plan, how about the 2005 ashes winners as a WP:Featured topic in the same manner that Blnguyen & co. are working on The Invincibles. –MDCollins (talk) 23:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Or both Gilo and Hoggy (we can avoid too many edit conflicts)...–MDCollins (talk) 23:51, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's why I thought we are well on the way...–MDCollins (talk) 12:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Have a look at my 2005 Ashes winners nav box - it's still in my sandbox so the 'vde' links don't work yet. I'm a bit unsure whether to roll it out to the team as there has been considerable debate regarding cricketers and masses of nav boxes, but this one is a bit more worthwhile than endless World Cup squads. If we think it is worthwhile, we should bring it up at WP:CRIC. –MDCollins (talk) 00:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I thought of that, and then remembered that most English players are lucky to win the Ashes once, and so actually it is quite useful. As for the Aussies, Steve Waugh with his 18 times or whatever stupid amount it could be, would get silly, and so would probably get the 'no' vote. Perhaps on the relevant Ashes articles, but not the players? I don't no, I'll leave it on the metaphorical back-burner while I have a think about it. –MDCollins (talk) 22:55, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

That's fine[edit]

Thanks for your message on your deletion of the entry The Adventures of Food Boy. I still disagree with the deletion, but there's really nothing I can do. And at the end of the day, I don't really care. I was just trying to be helpful. For what it's worth, there are five actors who have this movie listed on their entries but still no entry for this movie exists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mem59 (talkcontribs) 18:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Men in Black (1934 film)[edit]

You seemed to have trouble? They were the same article cut-and-paste moved, so needed a merge. Basically, you delete one, move the other over its place, and undelete the article, merging all of the edits together. You should also save the content of the article text before you delete it (I edit it in another tab, but you could copy it to your clipboard). You usually need to restore it after the merge. Otherwise you're left with a redirect, and the new history of the page is often hidden for several minutes before the system refreshes its cache. Anyhow, if you're not comfortable with doing history merges, you can tag {{db-histmerge}}; a handful admins handle most merge requests and are very experienced with them. Cool Hand Luke 19:51, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I see, you ultimately left them because it was already tagged. Anyhow, I've removed the speedy deletion category from {{Db-histmerge‎}} because these pages do trip up admins from time to time. Cool Hand Luke 19:57, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Your copyedit request[edit]

On 22 August 2007, you made a request to the League of Copyeditors for a copyedit on Marcus Trescothick. Because of a heavy backlog and a shortage of copyeditors, we have been unable to act on your request in a timely manner, for which we aplogize. Since your request, this article has been subject to significant editing and may no longer be a good candidate for copyediting by the League. If you still wish the League to copyedit this article, please review this article against our new criteria and follow the instructions on the Requests page. This will include your request in our new system, where it should receive more prompt attention. Finetooth (talk) 20:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

In response to your query, yes, you need do nothing. Best wishes. Finetooth (talk) 20:18, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

The Adventures of Food Boy[edit]

I'll try not to be disheartened by the rejection...  :-) Yes, there is an IMDB page for this movie. Here's the link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1059773/ I included it on the page I wrote earlier, but someone said that the movie still wasn't "notable" enough to be included. Given some of the actors in this movie, I disagree.

Having said that, I re-read your previous message and it looks like the bigger issues with the article I wrote were a lack of context (instead of just content) and that it was written in a simplistic code/manner. Let me see if I can add some context this time and I'll read up on writing more technically sound wikipedia articles, and I'll give it one more shot.

Thanks for the encouragement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mem59 (talkcontribs) 20:24, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Removing backlinks to redirects deleted due to CSD R3[edit]

Please don't remove backlinks from "implausible redirects" to a notable subject - they simply need fixing to point to the correct name. Warofdreams talk 20:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Operation Camargue[edit]

The article is really good. You guys are doing a wonderful job. One thing that should have been learned by the struggle of the Vietnamese people is that it doesn't matter if you are a superpower, wars are won by military personnel who know what they are doing and not by politicians sitting on their fat asses. These people had the will and determination to win. Now, there is only one thing that I recommend, change the military time to civilian time format. Most of the people who read the artilce may confuse 1730 with a year (yes, you always have one of those) and in some cases will understand that 1730 is the military's way of expressing 5:30 PM.

Changing the subject, I have been in touch with the family that has in their possession the shell of the first round fired against Germany by the United States in World War l. It is a unique one of a kind historical military artifact. I may be involved in having said artifact loaned to a museum.

I know I made some old ones that could be getting flagged only now, depending on when the bot (I assume that's how it's being done?) started. For example, I made 'Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite' on June 18, 2004. Anyways, thanks for the hard work. --Merovingian (T, C) 15:41, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Peer review: Operation Camargue[edit]

I'll try to do it tomorrow. or Monday. Rather busy at the moment. --ROGER DAVIES talk 01:32, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I've just done a MoS copyedit. Tidying up mostly. I've changed the cite format (cos the two Windrops looked odd cited differently, and made the Times consistent); I've also done dates, times, conversions, and unit numbers for MoS compliance. These'll need checking as I may have missed some. It's a very good piece :) --ROGER DAVIES talk 09:41, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Pleasure! I'm tied up for much of today but I'll try to start the PR this arvo. Likeliest requests will concern the political/ideological background to the war, and expanding info about the guerrilla origins of the Viet-Minh. I also want to see what Viet-Cong poster child, Giap, says about it so I'll dig his book out. Oh, and POV issues, like referring to the VM as the enemy in non-quoted prose. --ROGER DAVIES talk 10:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I've given it a bit of a copy-edit and added a citation tag. Revert anything you don't like! Later, --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Apologies ... I'm aware my self-imposed deadline for the peer review has passsed. The truth is I got rather side-tracked yesterday reading up on the background :) I've promised a second pass of the Emily Dickinson peer review today and I'll return to Operation Camargue after that.--ROGER DAVIES talk 08:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) I've (belatedly) scribbled down a few thoughts - mostly focused on getting to FA, as this seems your priority - which I hope you find helpful. Otherwise, I'm away from crack of dawn tomorrow for five days. --ROGER DAVIES talk 17:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

hi again, well, I admit that I first put some details in the listing which should not be there, you are totally right, it is an encyclopedia. but what my entry reads now is excatly the same many other label-listings read. now the listing is OK and a place within wikipedia is justified I think. please check "jazzman records", I almost copied the text. he has not been deleted but my listing was. RE: Forward THREE, LE Wikiproject[edit]

Hello SSGH

How are you today? I was recently looking at the awards thing with all the lists of what you can do in the competition to get an award. I have created 5 articles but one was merged unbenknown to me I looked at it the other day and it was merged, so would that count still? Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 17:06, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah seems fair to me, thanks. The merge is at Whistle if you scroll down to the police whistle section you'll see all the text I put in to the original article but I did write more. Also the merge was not discussed on the talk page of the article so I had no knowledge of it until one morning I woke up to see it merged, and in the history of Whistle you'll see evidence of the merge. Thanks Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 14:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Welcome![edit]

Welcome to the group of the hated. Unfortunately, your involvement to help SqueakBox has now brought up personal attacks against you! Now, I would never want an involved admin to make a block against someone when they were involved, but perhaps a request for some other admin to take a look at Pol64 and SqueakBox and their recent hate-filled posts against a few people, including you now, would be in order? Just a thought. Sorry you had to become involved in the "Enemies of SqueakBox" group... VigilancePrime (talk) 00:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I am sure you do not wish to be part of Vigilance's hate group. This pedophile loving, sorry girlloving, user just cant help himslef. That is okay, we'll help him for you (wikipedia). I don't think anyone thinks you are a paedophile SGGH, just naive young man, lets face it, would you be seen dead with a girllover? ie arm in arm with a paedophile, like Ssbohio tried to out some poor innocent girl recently. Hope not. Pol64 (talk) 00:49, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

To be honest I am not taking anyones side. I never was, I just merely saw an opportunity to mend fences by avoiding a blanket speedy and inviting discussion. I don't know either user so theres no way I could "prefer" one over the other, though I am at a loss as to where all these pedophile-type comments come from, I guess if I dredged into the history of all of this I would understand where it cropped up. To be honest I don't believe any of you are open to negotiation anymore. I will protect the content of the MfD'd article until the MfD passes, and then its fate is whatever the community has decided in the MfD. Incidentally, what makes you think I am a young man may I ask? SGGH speak! 00:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps you would care to answer Will's question. I can understand why VP and P64 think you are biased and answering that would perhaps lessen that. And an honest question. Do you really believe users should be able top attack others with impunity? I mean really. And if you do, can you explain how that helps build an encyclopedia. Please can you consider blocking VP as that would solve the problem immediately, and lets face it he is more interested in attacking people than building an encyclopedia. or do you want to the good editors chased away by the trolls? That is not good admin practice and to compare me to VPO when I attack no-one on my user page is taking sides. Can you not see that01:01, 28 January 2008 (UTC). Thanks, SqueakBox
Of course I don't, I answered him a while ago, but just on his talk page. SGGH speak! 01:05, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Well in that case please stop supporting people who are trolling me. you could solve this in an instant by speedying, as you should have done. Please do so. Otherwise you are running me off the site, and I think that is controversial but you seem st on it. Why should I put up with abuse merely because some troll wants to abuse me beacause I stopped his girllover article. you copuld end this in a moment. he is clearly canvassing and trolling. Why not block him for a week. Thanks, SqueakBox 01:09, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Well as I have stated, many many times, I was looking for a suitable solution for all parties. I have already mentioned, and you are very much aware, that both of you seem equally hostile in this dispute. However I did not get involved in resolving this dispute to be insulted, patronised, accused of liking pedophillia or having to suffer calls to have myself desysopped. All of which are unacceptable, so I shall wash my hands of this situation. I regret trying to help out now. I suggest you seek your resolutions at RFC or mediation. SGGH speak! 01:12, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Show me where Squeak attack Vigilance in his user space. Then I'll believe you. Its so obvious that this one guy wants to trash everyone else, I mean goddamit he used the vandal tag for admins on his user page. This guy is a troll through and through, so given your behaviour you probably got what you deserved. I thought wikiepdia was about building an encyclopedia, not justifyinjg pedophilia. And these guys are serious. So are we (and I don't refer to Squeak or you wikipedians). Pol64 (talk) 01:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

From memory, Vigilance has a big list of them in the page being MfD. And I believe Squeak also has links to a couple of attacks by Vigilance somewhere. You didn't answer me though, where does all this pedophilia stuff come from? How can you accuse me of "justifyinjg pedophilia" if I have no idea how pedophilia is related to this debate? SGGH speak! 01:23, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I dont link to VP or anyone on my user space, all I am asking is that others do the same. FWIW the whole argument is about pedophilia, I dont think anyone accuses you of being engaged in such yuck (obviously you arent) but the whole discussion is re paedophilia, you have only to look at the mfd and AN/I editors to see that (VP, Tlato, Will, Pol, Homologeo, we are all engaed in the pedophile articles on one side or the other). Thanks, SqueakBox 02:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I realise that the MfD has for some reason turned into a discussion about pedophilia, I just don't understand the pevious history about it all. So this is all about pedophilia? The whole dispute, everything?! What?! SGGH speak! 02:18, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I think it's reasonable to address user conduct issues, like the ones here, separately from content issues. The general assertion among a set of closely-aligned editors (whose opposition to pedophilia I support) appears to be: We believe this; If you don't, then you're clearly a pro-pedophile editor or you've been duped by one. There is no room in their perspective for people who think & act independently of any faction. Factionalism is a hindrance to writing an encyclopedia. Much like Br'er Rabbit, now that you've touched the Tar Baby, you're stuck. Lately, I've had more days when I wished I hadn't heard of Wikipedia. I'm giving strong consideration to withdrawing from the project altogether. As an aside, I see you're a friend of User:Marine 69-71. As he is a Wikipedian I a good deal of respect for, please feel free to call on me if I can be of any service. --SSBohio 06:13, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
