Student Emergency Medical Services (SEMS) is a student organization first formed at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall of 2004[1] with the goal of preventing alcohol related injury among the student body[2]. This goal is achieved by providing licensed emergency medical technicians to student and university sponsored events, peer-to-peer education about the dangers of binge drinking, and alcohol/drug emergency preparedness training for student and university groups.
Following the formation of SEMS, a foundation was created to spread the idea of SEMS to other universities. SEMS foundation is currently in the process of creating a second chapter at Colorado State University

Chapters[edit]
University of Colorado at Boulder[edit]
This is the first chapter.
Colorado State University[edit]
This is the chapter in Fort Collins, CO at Colorado State University (CSU). There were initially a number of setbacks in organizing the CSU chapter due to confusion about whether the group would be run by the university or by students[3]. There were also difficulties in finding a licensed medical director for the program.
