Rebecca Newman version[edit]

On Novenber 12. 2013, lyric soprano Rebecca Newman issued her version as a charity Christmas video, in a fully reworked arrangement, on YouTube.[10] It is available for download - 12% of the download price goes to ChildLine.[11] It was created with the participation of staff of the Derwent Valley Light Railway at the Yorkshire Museum of Farming, with a cast of children and adults from the theatre company We Are Theatre, and filmed also below the magnificent stained-glass window in Durham Town Hall.[12] It was very well reviewed[13] and within a fortnight registered 88,000 hits on YouTube.[14] By November 2014 it had amassed 170,000 views.[15]
Wonderful Dream (Holidays are Coming) was the creation of Melanie Thornton, who tragically died two days before the song was to have been released.[14][16] A sample from it was used in the famous CocaCola Christmas truck adverts.[17] Newman highly valued the gracious endorsements she received for this version, from Thornton's niece[18] and from her sister, who is also her manager.[19][20]
