Rod Johnston

Rod Johnston is a Freelance Radio Presenter/Producer born in Dundee. He was educated at Harris Academy, he had an interest in the media from an early age and in 1994 was part of the team that put plans into place for a new Local Radio station in Dundee organising Restricted License Services in 1994 as Discovery AM and Radio Waves. Following on from these projects he and his colleagues were delighted to be awarded with the full time New Radio service for Dundee in 1999 when Discovery FM was born later to be named Wave 102 which was then taken over by The Wireless Group (Now UTV)

Following his spell at Wave 102 he was invited to join the Kingdom Radio Group as one of the main presenters on Kingdom FM Broadcasting across Fife and East Central Scotland with his successful Nightlife Show from 7pm to 12 Minight along with his saturday Music and sport Show along with Sunday Breakfast. During his time at the Kingdom Radio Group he also presented shows on Kingdomm FM's Sister station the ill fated River FM on Saturday Breakfast and was Drivetime presenter on Kingdom FM's sister station 107 The Edge which was later sold off by the group to become L107 in Lanarkshire.

In January 2007 he left Kingdom FM and the Kingdom Radio Group to due financial restraints within the Radio Industry, however soon after leaving Kingdom FM he joined Your Radio a radio station serving The Firth of Clde to Loch Lomondside presenting regular weekend programmes before returning to his first love Wave 102 in Dundee during October 2008.

Apart from Presenting Radio Programmes he also covered SPL football matches as well as the 2003,2005 and 2006 Scottish FA Cup Finals.

Also a successful club DJ over the years appeared in many clubs and had a successful stint with sell out nights at Dundee University with his Nightfever 70's Nights as well as working for the chain Flares.

Rod plans to marry on 2nd July 2011 to his long term partner and fiance Michelle and will become an uncle for the first time when his sisterLaura is due to give birth this year
