Tums Mark Torbes Racing[edit]

Low Series History[edit]

Car No. 40 History[edit]

2018: In 2018, Gelete Cortell ran this car in his Low Series debut at Michigan. Cortell qualified 18th and wrecked in the race on lap 16, colliding with Tuft Ali in turn 3 and 4 while running 16th and 17th. Paul Joest ran this car in the season finale at Homestead-Miami, qualifying 21st and finishing 20th. 2020: The 40 returned for a one-off in 2020 with team owner Mark Torbes. It would be Torbes's final race ever, returning for the first time since 2016. It was the owner's 400th start in Low, so he ran the #40. Torbes qualified 29th and finished 16th.

Car No. 42 History[edit]

In 2017, the team made its debut in Low with Billy Torbes in the #42. Torbes posted 7 DNF's, 2 top 5's and 16 top 10's in 2017. Torbes's two top 5 finishes were a 5th at Talladega and a runner-up finish at Atlanta. 2018: For 2018, Billy Torbes returned with All-State sponsorship. All-State left halfway through the season and was replaced by Tums, and that's when the team was renamed Tums Mark Torbes Racing. Torbes did DNF in 8 races, but posted 4 top 5 finishes and 18 top 10 finishes. Torbes' consistency got him 5th in the standings in sub-par equipment. They were using Jaguar at this time. His four top 5 included 5th in Watkins Glen, 5th in Kentucky, 3rd at Atlanta and his first win at Dover. 2019: For 2019, Billy Torbes moved up to Middle in 2019 so Gelete Cortell replaced him in the 42 with Tums sponsorship. Cortell got 1 top 5, 8 top 10s and DNF'd 12 times. Not good. His only top 5 was when most wrecked in the chaotic 2019 Kansas race. Cortell finished 16th in the standings with the Jaguar-powered car, making the playoffs barely. 2020: For 2020, Cortell was shipped off to some Renault-powered team and Salvatore Torbes III came to the 42. He earned 1 top 5, 12 top 10s and 9 DNF's. It was hard to tell how good he was in the Jaguar-powered car, but believe it or not, Torbes earned the 42 car its first pole at Talladega, then second pole in Homestead. Torbes finished 30th at Talladega after being crashed and finished 6th at Homestead-Miami. Torbes finished 12th in the standings, making an upset run into the round of 12 but no further. 2021: Salvatore returned to the 42 with Tums sponsorship in 2021. He had no top 5s, 6 DNFs but 17 top 10s. Torbes were now the only Jaguar-powered car on the grid, but Torbes denied rumors to switch to Chevrolet power. Torbes ended up making the playoffs by 5 points but DNF'ing in 2 of the 3 round of 16 races and finishing 11th at Charlotte, Torbes failed to make the round of 12 and finished 15th in the standings. 2022: For 2022, Salvatore Torbes III could stay in the Low #42 car or move up to the #42 car in Middle, and its not set. If he does move up to Middle, a candidate for the 42 in Low could be Bertrand Gilbert.
