Wikibreak[edit]

I'm off on an indefinate wikibreak... while you are one of the nicer admins a lot of them are hash.... and a lot of people just seem to come here to push an agenda rather than write an encyclopedia. So I'll see you at another time -- RN

...What?! No! Indefinite... make that a temp break. I've tried to quit before, as you remember, but it was turned into a break. I hope you'll return. Redwolf24 (talk) 20:47, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I got burned out... I won't do it again I promise :). Ryan Norton T | @ | C 23:17, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Alphabetize[edit]

Really? Where? (and oh, I didn't read the page today, I read it over yesterday, decided to mull it over, and then joined today...) Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 21:41, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Yay you got it now. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:44, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
Either I'm blind or I still don't see where it says to alphabetize it. :-) Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 21:45, 4 September 2005 (UTC) (probably blind, but...)
It should be in the hidden text above the listings. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:48, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
Oh, there :-( (didn't look there, scrolled directly down) Perhaps you should uncomment that? Anyways, I'll be more careful in the future... Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 21:50, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

AFD & Redirects[edit]

Hi. I put up an article up for deletion. The article for deletion has a redirect going to it. Should I mention the redirect somewhere on the votes for deletion page (in case it gets deleted) so the admin will delete the redirect too? Wikipedianinthehouse 21:50, September 4, 2005 (UTC)

Yes. You should. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:51, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Silly edit war at Virii[edit]

Hi Redwolf. I'd appreciate it if you could do a bit of a sanity check on Virii (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views).

There was an RfC about a month ago about where the redirect should point; the consensus (that I see, at least) seems to have been that it should redirect to plural of virus or possibly even virus. There is one anonymous editor (154.20.32.131 (talk · contribs)) who insists that it should point to malware, and keeps changing the redirect with the edit summary 'revert malicious edit'.

Since I commented on the RfC, I don't feel comfortable making a definitive call on the issue—at least, not to the point of breaking the 3RR over it. Could you have a look at Talk:Virii and see what you think? TenOfAllTrades(talk) 23:01, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Reverted, Protected, Blocked. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:05, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

No prob, things can get pretty testy on here sometimes for no reason, and you're a pretty good admin so I figured it wasn't a vandal thing. Urgent[edit]

Redwolf, did you know that Essjay is taking a WikiBreak? Please leave him a message, as I see you two are pretty close. I'm worried about this recent spree of people leaving or taking long WikiBreaks (Kim Bruning, RN, and then Essjay), could we implement the Esperenza any faster? Thanks a lot! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 23:29, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Essjay will be back. He's stressed at POV pushers and legit editors who have no courtesy. He's not GONE. RN is just temp mad, I'd bet money he's coming back. And Kim_Bruning I have no idea, don't know him too well. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:31, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Alphabeticalization[edit]

Just wondering...why is it necessary to alphabeticize the names in Esperenza? --HappyCamper 23:49, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Just for the purpose of finding members, much like we alphabetize WP:LA, though I'm sure it'd be interesting to find whos the senior admins. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:55, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Ohhh, If you read it a certain way it sounds like you mean "Who are you to vote neutral" so I didn't know if thats what you meant or not. Vandalism[edit]

Why did you vandalize WikiFan04's userpage? "Zap!"? freestylefrappe 03:14, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Hm, I asked him to answer that in IRC but he had to go. I've explained this several times. We were talking about how weird a policy it was and I jokingly zapped his page. He took it too seriously and got mad at me. Note in the past I have 'vandalized' User:AngryParsley and he liked it and gave me a prank star for it. He took it seriously and seemed to have cooled down after I showed him the 38 times my user page has been vandalized. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:26, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Please note any user page I would ever vandalize would be an editor I thought would like the joke, and in WikiFan04's case, I was wrong. Note how I've never protected my user page despite having SysOp, its because sometimes, the vandalism at my user page can be funny. Redwolf24 (talk) 03:28, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

We are coming[edit]

Nominate yourself October 15. Until then use lots of edit summaries and stay away from controversial articles you keep going to. Redwolf24 (talk) 04:37, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Do you mean like GWB and Ted Kennedy or the articles in the Community Portal-Open Tasks that are listed as NPOV that need to be fixed? or both?Voice of All(MTG) 04:48, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
All of the above. Redwolf24 (talk) 05:14, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Why is that soo bad? And what community clean up stuff can I do to help as opposed to randomly foating from article to article?Voice of All(MTG) 05:23, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
I'm just saying people may disagree with you on those articles, and transfer that disagreement to your RfA! Redwolf24 (talk) 05:24, 5 September 2000(UTC)
Did that happen to you? And I still want to know what stuff I can do to help out without generating issues.Voice of All(MTG) 05:31, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
Sorry I forgot to reply. No it didn't happen me as I didn't get into to many controversial articles until after I won my RfA. Now I wallow in them ;) Yay adminship abuse. Jk though. Redwolf24 (talk) 06:06, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Deletion of Category:Articles that are too technical[edit]

Hello,

I notice that you are listed as the deleter of Category:Articles that are too technical, at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Undelete/Category:Articles_that_are_too_technical. This page was not listed on Redirects for Deletion before it was deleted. Your deletion summary does not explain why it was deleted, and one previous user's edit has a nondescriptive edit summary "Nuke.". Why was this redirect deleted? It seems to have been deleted against policy; would you be able to undelete it? Thanks, -- Creidieki 05:36, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Redirects can be CSD'd, and we don't like redirecting across namespaces. Redwolf24 (talk) 05:38, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't understand the abbreviation "CSD"; do you mean speedily deleted? This redirect did not meet any of the requirements for a redirect requiring speedy deletion at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Redirects, so far as I can see. It was also not "across namespaces"; it was in the Category namespace, and it redirected to another page in the Category namespace. I still don't believe that this deletion was done according to policy. -- Creidieki 16:29, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Whoops, I thought it was in te Wikipedia: namespace. It has been undeleted now. And FYI, CSD is the acronym for speedy :) Redwolf24 (talk) 21:46, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Nah, it was just confusing because the target has the word "Wikipedia" in the title. Okay, cool. Thank you!  :-) I know it wasn't your fault that it got marked as Speedy in the first place, and that sort of thing is easy to do. -- Creidieki 21:52, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Why isnt there a Arcane Wiki or WikiArcania or Wiki Esoterica?? that could handdle highly technical subjects??? JoeMele 04:36, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

image copyrights[edit]

Hi,

Typing to you about image:SHABTI-SETI.JPG

It has a message saying as it's source can not be found or verified it will be deleted,

I have tried to work out how to do this but can't, can you help and do it ?

All I can say is I uploaded the image to give a better understanding of Shabti or Ushabti figures and of the Pharaoh Seti-i.

The photo is my own work and the object itself is owned by me, so I have full copyrights to both the image and object, I am quite happy for the image to be public domain and the benefit of all.

Regards Martin, email [email protected]

If you own the copyrights, then write {{PD}} on it. Redwolf24 (talk) 21:46, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Esperanza Membership[edit]

Hi there Redwolf. You probably dont know me but I have seen this Esperanza thing and really like it's aims. This week I was searching for a wikipedians for harmony/peace to see if there is anything like that going on, and then I saw your comment on Mongo's page. After the whole Decency Vfd, and Agriculture quitting I felt rather dissapointed in the unkindness of much of wikipedia. But your thing is really great. I feel very strongly that wikipedia can be a friendlier place. Now to the point, am I wanted? (I always ask before joining a project in case I am not welcome) Sorry to bother you. Cheers. Reappearing article[edit]

You closed Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Gordon Cheng as a delete and deleted the article. Ta bu shi da yu restored it with a rather myseterious comment in the history. 20 minutes later he reverted himself to {{deleted page}} (with no edit summary explanation). Unfortunately, he forgot to delete the article again first, so it's sitting there with its history available, but a deletedpage template on it. Since you might have talked to him about it, I wonder if you know what should be done? Oh, thanks for the table thing, btw, I'll do proper thank-yous once the week is up. -Splash 20:38, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome for the table, and your RfA is clinched. Yeah TBSDY thought that I speedied it, which is why it was undeleted. But it was at VfD when he thought it was at Pages for Deletion or AfD or something. That's why he reverted. And yes, I will go delete it now and remove it from WP:PP. Thanks again, and if you ever need help as an admin, you know where to find me. :) Redwolf24 (talk) 21:46, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Katrina Help[edit]

Rewolf could you take a look at katrinahelp.info/wiki and see if their is a natural location for refugees to post their experiences. Its rather complexs and setting in the South, I'm on the front lines here so I really don't have the time or frankly the patience to sort through this. RedWolf

He was a famous american artist. Google him! I created atub for him and it was promptly deleted by Academic Challenger. Reason? I was the only contributor!! Silly since I just created. Can you reinstate that page cos he is notable and put a stub in there?? thanks JoeMele 04:05, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

The way you wrote it didn't merit an article. I.E. You didn't give any information for him, so that's why it was killed. Recreate it with more info and write {{stub}} on the bottom. Redwolf24 (talk) 04:21, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

68.199.100.109[edit]

You apparently blocked 68.199.100.109 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) per my request back on August 26 on WP:AIV… FYI, this person has come back and is right back at it (subtle hoaxing). Should there be a permablock, since this person seems to reliably have the same IP from their ISP, or should this be taken up with abuse@ISP, or both? -Kwh 05:41, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

Note: this person seems to have another personality using the IP 68.198.76.92 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). They've also been spotted at 149.61.68.128 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), (Manhattan College Academic Computer Center), which is apparently where they go to school. -Kwh 05:53, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

Harry Potter page deleted?[edit]

When the page called 'List Of Harry Potter Related Websites' was deleted I was on holiday and unable to reach a computer, so I was wondering if you could tell me why the page in question was deleted? Some of the information was originally on Harry Potter Fandom, and I was wondering where the information from the page is now located? A reply would be greatly aprieciated. If I deleted it it was only because of an entry at AfD. I don't do speedies anymore and it doesn't sound like a candidate anyway. I believe I did delete that per its consensus at the AfD. Redwolf24 (talk) 22:27, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
