Leeds Roller Dolls[edit]

The Leeds Roller Dolls (LRD) are an all female flat track roller derby league based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The league was formed in October 2007^[1] and were the first roller derby league in West Yorkshire. LRD philosophy (like much of the Roller Derby Community) is "For the Skater; By the Skater" LRD are skater owned and run and their aim is to promote inclusivity for any woman over the age of 18 regardless of size, shape or skating ability. LRD play by the rules of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

History[edit]

Formed on 31 October 2007 Leeds Roller Dolls are currently the largest league in West Yorkshire. LRD organise and skate in numerous bouts and tournaments – both closed and public. The Dolls competed in their first 4 open bouts and first 2 Tournaments in 2009, this included hosting their first public bout, titled "Summer Horror Day", at Savilles Hall, Leeds on the 22nd August, 2009. LRD competed in the London Rollergirls hosted European tournament "Roll Britannia" in 2009. The Dolls have hosted two Tournaments aimed at Newer Leagues and B teams, in 2010 and 2011.

Home Teams[edit]

LRD has two bouting teams – the Leeds Roller Dolls (their travel team), and the Whip-its who debuted in 2010 at The Great Yorkshire Showdown. Leeds Roller Dolls bouted as the Rotten Rollers for their first home bout and continued to bout under this name for the 2010 season.
