Rohit Arora (born 12th April 1983) is a Photographer/ Film-Maker based in New Delhi. The Engineering dropout started his career as a Production Assistant in various Bollywood Films there by exploring a successful career as a model, television actor and a photographer.[1] He was the assistant director to Onir for the national award winning film, I AM. He is the pioneer of the concept of a video modeling portfolio in India.

Career[edit]

At an early age of 18, Rohit found an opportunity to work on the sets of Bollywood Movies like Lakshya_(film), Hum Tum, Socha Na Tha and Let’s Enjoy. Next year he decided to quit his Engineering to pursue his creative calling. He Endorsed a number of brands as a model in Delhi. He shifted base to Mumbai in 2005 to explore television commercials and found a break in a television show ‘Ssshhh Phir Koi Hai' within 3 months of landing in Mumbai. His sceen presence was appreciated by the audience and the production houses and he bagged the role of Manoj Goyal in Sun Yaar Chill Maar[2] aired on Bindass[3] from 2007 to 2009. He simultaneously played Rocky (the bad boy in the college) in Kumkum_(TV_series) on Star_Plus in 2008.

He picked up his first camera in 2008 and quit television (after some stints in shows like Palampur_Express ,Chehra_(TV_series) etc) in early 2010 to pursue Photography. He went on to successfully deliver over 200 episodes on Television without having any formal training in Acting. He later got trained as an actor under the expert supervision on Neeraj Kabi (Ship of Theseus fame) and Dr.Abhijeet Das. Training continued as an actor but commercial work paused. In 2010 he assisted Onir for National Award winning film I_Am_(2010_Indian_film).[4] [5]

Rohit’s aspirations to be come a film-maker were fired by this stint and he started learning screen writing, cinematography and film editing which were later displayed in the form of a music video, short films and fashion films that he produced and directed. [6]

Rohit Shifted back to Delhi in 2013 (after completing his MBA) and now operates out of a penthouse studio in Indirapuram in Delhi NCR. He also partially manages his father’s Real Estate Business . He has been working on a unique movie script for years now and plan to go on floors in 2015.

Personal Life[edit]

Rohit’s Father is a Realtor, mother a home-maker and they both reside in Delhi. Rohit has a younger sister who is married and stays in UK with her husband and a daughter.

Early life and background[edit]

Rohit was born in Rohtak, Haryana and his entire education was spread over 9 schools in various parts of India due to his Father’s transferrable job. He was curious student and was usually the subject of distress amongst teachers who insisted on conventional education and regular way of thinking. He prepared for IIT-JEE and later dropped out of Engineering to pursue a creative career.

He formally studied software, intellectual property rights, graphic designing, acting, Internet Marketing and management (MBA in Marketing) with simultaneous keen interests in filmdirection, photography,[7] screen writing, film-editing and cinematography. He is an avid reader and claims to study for 4-6 hours everyday. His personal library has a collection of over 10,000 books.
