Salve, Jester 2001!
I saw you added a picture to the Jaime Bergman article. Where is that from? I too have done aPlayboy article, creating the one on Carmella DeCesare. After my signature, I've posting the standard welcome message. Hope you stay with us. PedanticallySpeaking 14:48, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the info on Miss Bergman. From the pose, I suspected it was one of the Playboy videos. PedanticallySpeaking 15:28, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)
Jester,
I'm not very good at adding pictures and as it seems you are, would be able to add one to Carmella DeCesare? PedanticallySpeaking 16:10, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Jester, I see you've been working on several articles related to Playboy and adding images to some of them. Unfortunately, this might cause problems. The use of nude pictures in Wikipedia has always been a controversial issue. Some people favor banning any nude pictures as this is a open website viewable by people of any age. However, so far, the consensus has been to not have a complete ban but to avoid nude pictures whenever possible. Posting pictures of nude playmates doesn't really fall within that limit.

In addition, Playboy is one of the most active companies in the world in enforcing its copyrights. They take a very narrow view on what consitutes fair use and do not hesitate to threaten and carry out legal action against people they think are violating their rights. So you should avoid using images from any Playboy publication or production.

Obviously, I'm speaking only for myself here. If you disagree, feel free to write back to me here or on my own talkpage. Or if you wish you can raise these issues at the Village Pump if you want a wider discussion. MK2 20:39, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Gotcha, will avoid using images from Playboy publications and productions. Jester2001 19:39, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Wet and Wild: Slippery When Wet (2000)[edit]

I don't think this is an appropriate article for Wikipedia. This has nothing to do with the Playboy subject matter, but rather because you've attempted to create an article by giving a play-by-play of one video out of a series of, for all relevant purposes, substantially identical videos. I don't even know if a valid article could be written on the Wet & Wild series as a whole, let alone one volume of it. Furthermore, your writing is a bit far from NPOV (i.e., "she looks beautiful"). I'm going to list the article for deletion, and I hope you take my comments into consideration for future contributions. Postdlf 23:27, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It's enough on List of Playboy videos to list that a series has run from 1989 to the present, or whatever; there is no justification for listing each entry separately. Postdlf 23:52, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well I can't say that I've seen all the Playboy videos but I have the impression that there has been a significant change in Playboy's philosophy in the production of their videos from the early 90's to the present. In the early 90's the "Sexy Lingerie" and "Wet and Wild" series were produced and very popular. The production of these videos has completely stopped and we now have videos such as "Sorority Strip Party", "Sexy House Keepers", and "America's Sexiest Bartenders". It seems to me that Playboy is now more concerned with making a profit by producing these sleazy videos than producing tasteful, artistic, and erotic depictions of women. I hoped that in writing a detailed description of each of the Playboy videos one could get an impression of the change that has taken place in Playboy's view of women. I have taken your points into consideration and have removed the NPOV remarks from my article. I hope that other people will be able to contribute their ideas and improve the video articles. Screenshots[edit]

Make sure you include the information on the original source on the image info pages and who owns the copyright in it—I think the attribution helps ensure that it's perceived as a good faith fair use.

Someone removed your nude screenshots from Summer Altice, btw. I could see it being considered overkill in an article that already has a substantially nude cover shot of her, though I think such images are generally fair game in articles about nude models or softcore porn videos. Unfortunately there are quite a lot of people on here who are overly concerned about making Wikipedia "child-safe" (because bare breasts blind babies, of course), but from what I've seen they're only successful in getting images permanently removed when they overtly depict sexual conduct. Postdlf 02:29, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I just saw the images you uploaded for the Wet & Wild article—given the article subject matter, I think these are appropriate (nude or not) and fair use, but just to err on the side of caution considering how litigious Playboy is about these things, you might want to reduce the image resolution a bit further. Just a thought. Postdlf 18:32, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Okay, I've reduced the images by 50%. Jester2001 20:21, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Playmate Info Box[edit]

Just noticed that you've expanded on the Playmate info box that 10qwerty was putting on Playmate's pages. I thought I might make a suggestion... It might help if you put at the top of the box, or right below the picture, the fact that it's associated with their appearance in Playboy. For instance, Jenny McCarthy's box starts out with "October 1993". Without saying that she was in Playboy in Oct. of '93 it doesn't have any relevance to the average reader. And then the preceded by and succeded by info would have more relevance as well. Just a thought... Dismas 21:16, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

Your absolutely right so I've changed "Month" to "Playboy Centerfold Appearance". Jester2001 21:32, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
  • I like the infobox you created. However, I might later tinker with the colours a little bit. 10qwerty 21:35, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
Please do, I've never had good colour coordination. So that's why chose gray to be safe. Jester2001 21:46, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
I like the change but now Jenny McCarthy's picture isn't showing up. I'm no good with template code yet so you might want to take a look at it. Dismas 01:17, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
  • I changed the formatting of the infobox so it looks more like the ones on the U.S. Presidents. However, unless you have a picture for every Playmate, it is not very good for the image tag to be coded in the template itself. (See Lauren Michelle Hill for an example). 10qwerty 01:25, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Image formats[edit]

Generally, it's not a good idea to replace JPG images by PNG images, because JPEG is a lossy compression format (meaning high-detail pictures are represented compactly with some trade-off in quality) while PNG is a lossless compression format (meaning every pixel is reproduced exactly as given). Converting a JPG to a PNG generally makes no sense, because the detail was already lost in the JPG, and the PNG will just be much bigger. You can simply re-upload an image and overwrite the previous version if you edit it. JRM · Talk 20:34, 2005 May 30 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the info. I will stick with PNG images from now on. Jester2001 21:09, 30 May 2005 (UTC)
Erm... No, you should stick with JPEG. For an alternative explanation, see [2], but mentally replace "GIF" with "PNG" (the principle is the same). Also [3] and [4]. The bottom line is that PNG images will be much bigger for no good reason. For photographs, use JPEG. JRM · Talk 07:46, 2005 Jun 1 (UTC)
Thanks for the links. I have a clearer idea now when to use PNG's and when to use JPEG's. Jester2001 18:14, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Do you know a trick ? Greetings from Berlin MutterErde 21:58, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

You could take a screenshot by pressing the PrintScrn key on your keyboard and pasting from the clipboard into your favourite paint program. Jester2001 23:32, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Oh, thank you.I´ve got got it.Greetings from Berlin MutterErde 14:41, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Kelly Marie Monaco Picture[edit]

  • That's a great picture but you would have to get permission from the original copyright owner before uploading it to Wikipedia. At which web site did you find the picture on? Jester2001 21:03, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • I searched throught the forums but couldn't find who originally took the photo. Unless we can find the original copyright owner and get their permission to upload it to Wikipedia I guess we can't use the photo. It's a pity because its a much better picture than the screenshot we have now. Jester2001 18:57, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Yep, covers are fair use. If you feel that this is a better picture than the screenshot then please do change the image. Personally I think both are okay. You will have to create an account before you can upload the image though. I guess there won't be any confusion as to who Kelly is. :-) Jester2001 19:29, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • It's better I think, but it has too much else going on. I'll keep looking. The one we have up now is just not flattering (imho).
  • I think I got one, check it out. AriGold 30 June 2005 20:52 (UTC)
  • To be honest, I preferred the FHM cover to the General Hospital screenshot... HipsterDad 7 July 2005 16:33 (UTC)
  • Jester, please check out the current discussion and see if you agree or disagree. Thanks. AriGold 13:11, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

Summer Altice pictures?[edit]

heya,

what happened to the older Summer Altice pictures?

  • I decided to put up a more recent tattoo picture as the one which was originally in the article was quite old and did not show the most recent design. I also thought that the other screenshot from Wet & Wild: Slippery When Wet didn't add too much to the article itself so I removed that one also. Jester2001 18:03, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations[edit]

  • Somebody is collecting your beauties. Congratulations :-)
