rVue Holdings, Inc. is quoted on the OTCBB exchange trading under the symbol “RVUE.” rVue, Inc. is an advertising technology company with the first digital out-of-home demand side platform. The company began in 1995 as digital signage pioneer, Retail Media Systems.

The companies first large client was Planet Hollywood's worldwide chain of restaurants. Over the years, rVue has developed robust technology and installed and distributed content to over 80,000 screens located in various commercial environments such as malls and retail stores. In 1999, the company changed its name to RMS Networks, and established itself in digital media and marketing.


By 2005, the digital out-of-home (DOOH)industry began seeing significant strides and the company repositioned itself from a linear provider of digital signage and technology to that of a technology, marketing and emerging media company. In 2007, rVue invested heavily in the existing IP, named rVue, and developed the largest web-based platform for accessing DOOH advertising and commercial screens.

1995[edit]

Retail Media Systems forms as full motion digital marketing agency that provides the ability to utilize proprietary video content distribution technology.

1996[edit]

RMS completes first round institutional funding. $1 million infusion earmarked to launch pilot network for automotive parts industry leaders. RMS launches its first full pilot network in after-market automotive parts industry. Monitors and additional equipment installed in thousands of NAPA, AutoZone, Big A Automotive, Advance Auto Parts and Western Auto retail locations nationwide. Performance tracked by Nielsen.

1997[edit]

RMS secures $2.5 million institutional funding. RMS acquires software engineering company and completes development of proprietary digital delivery and playback platform with in-house engineering expertise. With broadband virtually non-existent, audio/video stream designed for VSAT satellite platform delivery.


1998[edit]

Planet Hollywood network launches in 140 locations. Video content streamed directly from RMS servers over VSAT to playback screens worldwide.

1999[edit]

RMS relaunches the automotive network with VSAT, bringing outlets real-time content delivery and playback. With Sun Capital Ventures and private investors, RMS completes third round institutional funding. RMS finalizes $11 million capital for new pharmacy and liquor store categories installations. RMS signs with First Boston for projected $75 million IPO.

2000[edit]

RMS opens seventh US-based office. Offices include Fort Lauderdale, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Charlotte and Atlanta.

2001[edit]

RMS launches new retail networks in Staples, CVS/Pharmacy and Simon Malls. RMS software engineers create Linux-based, open-source operating system. New application eliminates need for license fees and expensive video cards. RMS engineers also create software to remotely control and monitor servers and bandwidth at sites. Further ensures integrity of each network and investments of advertisers including NetZero, Bacardi, Tylenol, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Ford.

2002[edit]

RMS rolls out pilots (35 to date) into new retail destinations, including grocery and convenience stores.

2003[edit]

RMS transitions from using satellite delivery to broadband. RMS engineers develop Content Distribution Network (CDN) that again increases distribution efficiency. AutoNation Inc partners with RMS to launch innovative network in 24 dealerships.

2004[edit]

RMS signs MusicLand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musicland as client and debuts network with “jukebox” application feature. Gives individual stores instant control of exactly what content is playing on their monitors. This feature is eventually developed into what will be known as rVue, RMS’ addressable advertising exchange built specifically for the digital out-of-home industry.

2006[edit]

rVue is born and completes transition from analog to full digital content distribution. rVue is immediately viewed as industry leader for advertising exchanges in business environment. Advance TV (originally Advance Auto Parts Network) reaches momentous 3,100 locations with network installations. RMS and Advance Auto Parts begin distribution of downloadable video for mobile devices online.

With $800 million in incremental sales attributed to installed networks with more than 80,000 screens, RMS focuses on enhancement to rVue.

2009[edit]

A new and improved rVue launches, creating an addressable advertising exchange that redefines digital out-of-home by providing a centralized marketplace for DOOH engagement between advertisers and networks. With the new rVue in place, RMS and BroadSign International announce agreement giving advertisers direct web-based access to BroadSign’s extensive distribution outlets. As part of a commitment to growth, the company welcomes Richard “Dick” Sullivan as Chairman of the Board. rVue is highlighted at the launch of Ogilvy's digital lab.


2010[edit]

rVue 2.0 launches at the Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas. The platform adds social networking, searchability, profile expansion, and data enhancements to its media planner and ad exchange technology, as well as a diverse group of network partners accounting for millions of daily impressions. Jason Kates is selected as key speaker at DSE's ad summit. rVue 2.1 launches April 2010 with the industry's first transparent communication tools and enhanced media planning features. rVue 2.3 is launch shortly after, in August. rVue Holdings, Inc. completes $1+ million financing round funded by institutional investors and acquires rVue, Inc. rVue Holdings is quoted on the OTCBB exchange trading under the symbol “RVUE.”
