0.01 (1M, OK-M, OK-ML1, BTS-01) (Russian: Орбитальный корабль-Макет, romanized: Orbital'nyy korabl-maket, lit. 'Orbiter mockup' is a full-scale Buran mockup built in year 1983 by NPO Molniya for static structural and air transportation tests.

History[edit]

Test article[edit]

On this mockup structural tests were conducted at TsAGI to ensure horizontal flight tests of the OK-GLI. After completing these tests, OK-M was first used to test air transportation on a 3M-T aircraft, and then in December 1983 was delivered to Baikonur cosmodrome. There she carried out fitting tests at the MIK OK and, with the launch vehicle, at the mounting refueling complex (MZK), at the launch complex, UKSS (Site 250) and vertical frequency tests at the dynamic test bench.

Plans for furher use in the Buran programme[edit]

In the late 1970s, the NPO Molniya chief designer Gleb Lozino-Lozinsky proposed the first two mock-ups to be used in the first launches of the Energia launch vehicle after their initial test program. This made it possible to conduct the first two flight tests of the Buran program without the risk of losing regular orbiters. These original plans is reflected by letters "ML" in the original designation of the mockup. As development progresses, these plans have been canceled (specifically after completing of 0.04).[1]

The latest plans was to accommodate this mockup for use in underwater training facility in Cosmonaut Training Center.[2]
