Article evaluation: Philosophy of mathematics education[edit]

    • The lead is confusing and too long
    • Central questions are distracting, could be improved
  • Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?
    • There isn't actually any information about the philosophy of mathematics education; only the lead and questions and a link to the Philosophy of Mathematics Education Journal. Maybe start answering the questions
    • Add statements from education policymakers

    • Add people's distaste/fear of mathematics (link mathematical anxiety)
    • Add statistics about people in math (high school, undergrad, grad)

  • Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?
    • Links work, but one is to an Amazon book. Is someone trying to sell their book? Book by Paul Ernest, looks like the editor is also Paul Ernest (user Rnest2002)
  • Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

  • What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
    • No talk
  • How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
    • Stub, low importance
  • How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
