VP approval

Hi, since the "upgrade" from VPRF 1.3, there's a bit of a backlog of mystified users who have lost their right to use the tool. Could you have a look and re-approve those users you deem suitable (including me!) when you get a chance? Cheers! Budgiekiller 07:46, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof

Thank you for granting me approval concerning the usage of VandalProof.

VP - not on the user list alghough approved

Hello, thanks for approving me using VP. However I still cannot get it working. When I start I get a login window, I my username appears and I am even able to login manualy. But when I click Verify Authorization it just says "You are not on the user list." I tried to login before I was approved, but since then I restarted computer and cleared IE cache. Executable name is "VandalProof 131.exe" so it seems I do have a correct version. Do you have any idea what can be possibly wrong? I cheched the discussion fora and I did not see it was a common problem, so I am writing. Maybe there is still some cache on the way and it will start working in couple of days. Anyway, have a nice day. --Jan.Smolik 22:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I do have cookies enabled. --Jan.Smolik 22:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I run "VandalProof 131.exe", Language says "en", Root says "wikipedia" (like this, no caps). After two or three seconds my username "Jan.Smolik" apears in the Username. I click "Vefify Authorization". It says: "You are not on the user list." That is all.
I alternatively tried to log out from wikipedia in IE, then clicking "Ch", entering manually my username and password clicked "Log-in To WP", which worked and than "You are not on the user list.", which did not. --Jan.Smolik 23:10, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I will try to completely disable these. I just checked my other computer and it did not work either (my standard computer is behind NAT, the other one not). However it does not seem to be firewall thing, I allowed this exe to go through... Anyway, I will try it. Yes, I am using IE as my primary wikibrowser and it is version 6. Well, if my name is in the list (and it must be correct, because otherwise notification would not be on my talk page), problem seems to be on my side. I might try my office computer if problem is not elsewhere. Thanks for help. --Jan.Smolik 23:40, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof

Hello and thanks for approving me for VP. I've been having a log in problem. When I click 'Verify Authorization' it says "You are not on the user list." I use Firefox, although I had to sign in using IE. Cookies are enabled. What could the problem be? Nat91 02:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof Application, Part III

I've applied twice for VP in the past, both times being turned down. It seems though, that I've now made the required 250+ edits! Permission then to please reapply?

Best regards mate,

Not on User List...

Hi Prodego,

This will sound like a broken records, I am sure!

  • I was approved by you on 11/28/06.
  • Using version 131 downloaded on 11/28/06
  • I mainly use FireFox, but have the same response with IE6 at work and IE7 at home.
  • Cookies are enabled on all browsers.
  • Firewalls at work and home allow access to WikiPedia as well as https: usage.
  • In all cases, I am recognized by the program, it retrieves my information and fails on Verification with the "Not on List" popup.
  • Any suggestions, please?

Thanks!

Larry

Hi,

I read a bunch of your hints to others and I have actually been able to access VandalProof at both work and home now! I am now wondering if it might have been like DNS changes percolating through servers taking a day or so.

Of course, nothing is easy! :-) I have been able to retrieve my Watchlist and Contribs, but have never been able receive anything on Recent Changes no matter what I have tried. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

VP Approval Request

Prodego, Hello! I added my name to the VP Approval Request list last week and it seems that while you were approving users my name was removed, but I never recieved confirmation on whether or not I was approved. I've pretty much used my time on Wikipedia to revert vandalism and I'd like to use VPRF to accomplish this - I'm fairly certain that I meet the requirements. I resubmitted my name per the directions on the page (the directions detailing what to do if your name is removed without any confirmation); I'd really appreciate it if you could have a second look. Thank you! Regards, NickContact/Contribs 00:47, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Been so long since I've protected a deleted page, I forgot the template for it! bd2412 T 20:54, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Deletedstubpage

I've reverted your merging of deletedstubpage - not sure why you did that, deletedpage is used for an entirely different purpose and the wording on it doesn't apply to stub categories or templates. Please discuss the reasons on the template's talk page if you wish to re-merge them. Grutness...wha? 00:24, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah - okay - that makes more sense. Sorry about that. Grutness...wha? 03:08, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Clerk for Requests for Checkuser

Hey Prodego,

I am messaging you to ask whether you would be interested in reassuming your role as a Request for Checkuser clerk. Currently, the clerk duties are being shared among three experienced clerks, and we have added two new clerks, who are currently in the learning stage. We are currently experiencing backlogs and long waiting times for some actions to occur.

As you are currently listed under "inactive" on our clerk roster, we're asking that if you are willing to resume these clerk activities, please leave a message on my user talk page (quick link). A number of things have changed, so we reccommend re-reading Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Clerks/Guide. The guide is currently being rewritten, but the new and updated version should be available by 00:00 December 12, 2006 (UTC) at the latest.

If you aren't interested in being a checkuser clerk any longer, we accept your decision and thank you for your service; it would be greatly appreciated if you'd leave me a note that you're no longer interested. If you would like to resume your role in the future, but can't do so now, please mention so on my talk page, and I'll note this on our clerk register.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Daniel.Bryant T · C ], Head Clerk, for Essjay (talk), 05:11, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
