Katy Rodriguez

[edit]

Katy Rodriguez (born September 2, 1969) is an American fashion designer. Katy Rodriguez was born in San Francisco, California. She studied art, fashion illustration and photography before moving to New York City to purse a career in the arts. Rodriguez initially made her mark in the Nineties as a co-founder of the award-winning Resurrection boutiques. Rodriguez resided in New York for nearly a decade before moving back to California in 2000 to expand Resurrection and pursue her own designs. Shortly following her move, Rodriguez designed a capsule collection with artist Raymond Pettibon, based on his ink on paper drawings. Around the same time, Rodriguez and her Resurrection partner, Mark Haddawy, designed a collection they named after their French alter egos “caitie et marc.” Their collection was featured in several publications, including Flaunt, Nylon, and Vogue.

In June 2005, Katy Rodriguez started to design her own eponymous line. Katy drew from her insatiable love for history’s quirky fashion characters and sartorial worldliness to create her first pieces. For her subsequent collections, Katy continued to build on her original designs, assembling collections that focus on architectural volumes and fantasy. Katy Rodriguez’s collections are produced exclusively in her Los Angeles studio, in order to maintain the integrity and custom-feel of each piece. Katy Rodriguez has presented her collections several times at New York Fashion Week.
