R Rajendran is an active politician affiliated with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party in the indian state of Tamilnadu. He is popularly called as Panaimarathupatti Rajendran, after his first victory in the constituency in 2006 Tamilnadu Assembly elections.He is currently serving as DMK’s Salem Central unit district secretary.

By winning from Salem North constituency in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections,he became the DMK’s lone successful candidate in Salem district for the second time in a row.He prevailed in a tough fight with AIADMK’s high two-time MLA and Salem urban district secretary G Venkatachalam. His profession according to the election affidavit filed with the Election Commission is Advocate.
