Marlink[1] is specialized in providing business critical communication solutions to customers operating in remote environments. With over 1000 employees worldwide, the company is the largest technology-independent satellite communication and digital solutions provider. It serves the maritime, enterprise and aero markets. Marlink's multi-band communication services covers Ku, Ka, C and L-band extended with to mobile and terrestrial links.

History[edit]
Marlink has more than 75 years of experience in developing business critical solutions for customers operating in remote environments at sea, on land and in air. Marlink is an early adopter of mobile satellite services (MSS), have founded maritime VSAT services 25 years ago and have pioneered the first land VSAT networks in Africa more than 20 years ago. Today, Marlink is the largest maritime VSAT provider[2] (by market share) and offers solutions combining L, C, Ku and Ka-band services with a suite of in-house value added services.
1940: Operator of radio communication network and traffic accounting authority for maritime communication
1962: COMSAT was created by Comms Satellite Act, with founding board appointed by President Kennedy. COMSAT helped create the International Telecommunications Satellite Consortium (INTELSAT).
1970s : Originally part of Norwegian operator Telenor, Marlink became the first to use satellites for domestic use
1976: Eik teleport established to provide communication to oil platforms in the North Sea
1979: Creation of the International Maritime Satellite Org.[3] (Inmarsat) with Telenor, Comsat and France Telecom as founding partners
1980: Aussaguel Teleport established
1991: Telenor[4] developed and launched first maritime VSAT service[5]
1997: Creation of Taide Network with Land VSAT operations in Europe
1999: Telenor Satellite Services (incl. MSS and VSAT services) is created and pioneers maritime VSAT services
2000: France Telecom creates France Telecom Mobile Satellite Communications and acquires DeTeSat, GloCal and TDCom
2000: Marlink launches SkyFile® Mail, first and well-known value-added services to optimize satellite connectivity
2001: Marlink becomes official distributor of Thuraya services and Iridium distributor in 2002
2002: Telenor Satellite Services acquires Comsat Mobile Communications and Sait Communications and creates Marlink
2006-2007: Apax Partners[6] acquires FTMSC and Telenor Satellite Services and forms Vizada[7][8]
2010: Awarded Inmarsat partner as a solutions innovator for the merchant shipping market
2011-2012: Apax Partners sells Vizada to Astrium[9][10]. Creation of Astrium Services Business Communications combining Vizada, Marlink, Vizada Networks, TDCOM and London Satellite Exchange
2014: Airbus[11] decides to identify more suitable owner to develop commercial satcom business
2015: Marlink and business communications group of Airbus Defence and Space found to be largest VSAT Provider[12][13]
2016: Marlink rebrands as a stand-alone company for Maritime, Enterprise and Aero businesses. The company has been confirmed again as the N1 Maritime Service Providers
2016: Marlink and Telemar joined forces and creating the world’s leading maritime communications, digital solutions and servicing group.
2017: TNL Group and Marlink creating a new leading satellite communications expert for the Greek and Cypriot markets
2017: Marlink acquires Palantir and joining forces with the specialist in remote it management solutions

Marlink has served the maritime industry for more than 25 years with satellite connectivity, enabling broadband data and voice communications on board and on shore, through MSS or VSAT solutions.
These multi-band solutions are based on Satellite Network Operators technologies (MSS) and are also developed in-house (VSAT), using the Sealink technology[14].

Air[edit]
Marlink provides aero satellite communications products based on the Inmarsat Swift services. These products enable high speed and IP based communication both in cockpit and cabin for voice communication, internet browsing, fax and file sharing.
