Why Wait or Años Luz (in its spanish version) is a dance pop song by singer-songwriter Shakira, this song was written by Shakira in collaboration with the American member of the band N.E.R.D, this song contains several elements about dance, pop and more dance-influenced samba, this song did not enter any official list because the album tubing not much promotion as expected, Shakira performs this song during their last tour The Sun Comes Out World, played both versions in different legs on the tour.[2][3]

Shakira told Rolling Stone that several songs were recorded by Gustavo Celis during a series of 12-hour sessions mostly in the Bahamas with John Hill, Pharrell and other partners. The hard work has helped transform the sound of Latin-tinged pop fast "Hips Don't Lie" to something more functional, vibrant and fiercely danceable. "It's very dance-oriented electronic, club-oriented. It is designed for people to have fun and enjoy themselves and forget their problems and crisis," says Shakira.[4] She also says she always wanted to do a disk without losing bass-heavy "the merger, which is something I'm always very interested in bringing elements of different cultures. So let's find influences of Colombia, the Middle East, but always with synthesizers as a key element ... the worst that can happen to me is myself repeating and repeating the same old mades,"[4] Shakira says Rolling Stone, adding that it takes a long time between records, "because I really want to be sure of every detail that makes me happy." Shakira also said he was very pleased to be working with Wyclef Jean Due to its positive opinion of the song. The song starts track "Spy" with Wyclef Jean, meanwhile, takes on the issue, update album "She Wolf" as a roaring chain swirl around quartets Shakira and voice response with Wyclef Jean.[5]

The song was presented in her english version for the first time in an interview with the Platinum Edition of the album She Wolf, this presentation can only be seen on the DVD disc two, some of these songs that were presented along with "She Wolf" and "Gypsy,"[10] the audio of these songs are only included in the expandable version of the album.[10] The song was featured live on the program Later... with Jools Holland on October 2, 2009, along with her singles "She Wolf" and "Did it Again".[11][12] Shakira also performed the song at MTV Stripped in also performed "Hips Don't Lie", "She Wolf", "Give It Up to Me".[13] Both versions of the song were played during his recent tour The Sun Comes Out World, the English version was performed in several stages and North America, Asia and Europe, while the Spanish version was performed only at the stage of Latin America. For their performances in Rock in Rio, the song is not part of the repertoire, instead Shakira interpret "Estoy Aquí".[14] During this performances the song was praised as one of the best on tour in 2010 and 2011.[9]
