Yabazam is an over-the-top (OTT) video service offering on-demand streaming of stereoscopic 3D short films, TV shows, trailers and movies. Yabazam videos are available to users in the United States through a subscription video on demand (SVOD) service and to overseas users on a transactional video on demand (TVOD) basis.

History[edit]

Yabazam launched as a download to own 3D video website in 2009.[1]

The Yabazam 3D app launched on the LG and Samsung Smart TV platforms in 2012.[2][3] Initially offering on-demand streaming of 3D trailers only, an update was published in late 2012 that added transactional capabilities to allow users to rent 3D videos. The transactional feature for LG and Samsung users in the US was replaced with a subscription service in early 2013.[4][5]

Yabazam received a 2013 “Best 3D Product” award from the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society.[6]

The Yabazam 3D app was published in the Google Play Store in June 2014 for use on mobile 3D Android devices.[7]

Programming[edit]

Yabazam distributes short and long form content from these genres: adventure, animation, comedy, documentary, drama, educational, family, horror, music, ride film, sci-fi, lifestyle, sport.

In June 2010, Yabazam began distributing the world’s first 3D comedy series, Safety Geeks: SVI 3D.[8] Initially created as a series of short episodes, the producer later edited a feature-length version, which was used by Yabazam for a 3D Blu-ray Disc release.[9]

In July 2012, 3D lifestyle programming from WealthTV was added to Yabazam.[10]

In December 2012, Yabazam began distributing the Storm Surfers 3D web series, starring professional surfers, Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke-Jones.[11] The series is a 10-part collection of “how-to” videos produced by 6ixty Foot Films, the team behind the award-winning documentary Storm Surfers 3D.[12]

In February 2013, the first independently-produced 3D feature film shot in Chicago, I Heart Shakey, was added to Yabazam.[13]

In May 2013, Battle Castle 3D motion comics, a companion to the Battle Castle action documentary TV series produced by Parallax Film Productions, was added to Yabazam.[14]

In March 2014, Yabazam began distributing season 2 of Xanthus Animation Studio’s Yameme, an animated TV series produced in Taiwan.[15]

In March 2014, Yabazam signed an agreement with WingsMedia, a wholly owned subsidiary of China's second largest media group, Shanghai Media Group (SMG), to distribute 130 episodes from the World 3D travel series.[16]
