Jackie Kashian Jackie Kashian was born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was raised by her father, Elliot, and her step-mother Nancy along with her four older brothers and one older sister. She discovered her love of stand-up comedy while attending The University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was given stage time at a club operated by Bill Kinison (brother of stand-up legend Sam Kinison ) five nights a week. Her grades suffered but her comedy flourished.

Jackie has a half-hour special on Comedy Central and has appeared on CBS, NBC, and the nationally syndicated Radio/TV show Bob And Tom. She is an internationally touring comic, spending approximately 25 weeks a year on the road. Multiple times she has been to entertain the U.S. troops stationed in Africa and the Middle East. Her most recent album, It's Never Going to be Bread was named on the top comedy albums of 2010 by Amazon.com.

After a stint in Minneapolis, Jackie now calls Los Angeles home. She lives in Van Nuys with her gamer husband Andy and their pet Iguana. She is good friends with Maria Bamford and they often preform together both in Los Angeles and on the road.

Podcast[edit]

In 2005 Jackie began hosting her podcast, The Dork Forest. Recorded in her living room in Van Nuys, the show features 'dork on dork dialog' between Jackie and her guests about their favorite obsessions commonly refered to by Jackie as'dorkdoms.' Past guests have included Paul F. Tompkins , Jen Kirkman, James Urbaniak, Jimmy Pardo, and Mary-Lynn Rajskub among others. Fans of the show refer to themselves as Rangers Of The Dork Forest. In 2010, the podcast changed from a live format to pre-recorded with superior audio quality and a popular new theme song entitled "Welcome to The Dork Forest" written by Mike Ruekberg. In 2011 Jackie preformed her first live Dork Forest to an excited crowd and subsequently scheduled future live episodes.
