Quesers App[edit]

Quesers is an Android (operating system) mobile application developed by Findie a Cameroon based company in Buea . Quesers is a Search engine for past Question and answers. It currently serves the population of the University of Buea Cameroon and many other universities in Cameroon such as the Catholic University of Cameroon, Buea. It enables students to search and purchase Verified past questions and their solutions which enable them prepare more effectively in the CAs and Exams. Students can now get access to verified solutions that will help improve their academic performance[1].

Originality

Quesers was build by student developers in the University of Buea who where Engineering students in the faculty of Engineering. The called themselves the Findie team after the first app they develop the Findie app. People from all the university of Buea used the Findie app to access relevant information , socialize and get acquainted with the environment[1]. Seeing the difficulty in getting past questions, they developed the second mobile app Quesers for this purpose. Quesers is an original name coming from the combination of the words Questions and Answers.

Development

In order to make the project a success and to make a difference the team assembled a team of uploaders called the Quesers uploaders who were responsible for finding and solving past questions for the benefits of the users. For this purpose the dashboard was created which enabled the Quesers uploaders to upload Questions which are then visible from withing the Quesers app. The uploaders were very intelligent students in higher level of the faculties of the University of Buea.

Users

The time of writing is actually the first year of the app release and they have currently aquired a large number of users most students of the university of buea. which is one third of the student population making a total of 4333 students.

Team[edit]

The team head of the Quesers team is Oben D. Ashu and the other 3 founders where Akumah Ndehngwa, Tambeayuk Agnes and Tabi A. Lizzy. All founders and team members come from the software Engineering background.

The 4 founders of the team also founded the Ultra Tech Genius Academy which help mentor young adults in the software engineering path. They have organized numerous events such as the Mobile app development bootcamp where they trained mentees in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS and IonicJS Frameworks

Platform[edit]

As of June 2021, the Quesers mobile app only runs on the Android (operating system) and the Quesers uploaders dashboard runs on web platform only. It is compatible with most devices with android level 5 and above which accounts for 92% of total android users as of June 2021.

Cost[edit]

Quesers works on a pay as you need plan. so students pay an average cost of 200 FCFA for each paper they download. This model was made inorder to allow students to have the freedom of getting just the papers they needed at a very low and affordable cost. The platform enables all questions downloaded to be saved locally and externally on external cloud servers so that even when they migrate from one phone to another, all their data is being backed up. In this way users don`t get to re-download the already saved questions.

Technologies[edit]

Quesers was built using a hybrid and cloud computing architecture. the mobile app and website were built using the ionicJS framework and the back-end used a Paas specifically Backend as a service cloud computing platform called Firebase.
