Bob Sorge is the owner, director , of Oasis House Publishing. Sorge’s first book, Exploring Worship: A Practical Guide to Praise & Worship, was published in 1987. It was a self-publishing venture by an unknown author, but the demand for this textbook on worship steadily grew. It has been used as a teaching and equipping tool in Bible schools and churches worldwide.

In 1992, Sorge was diagnosed with an arytenoid granuloma (a contact ulcer on the cartilage adjacent to the vocal folds). Surgery to remove the granuloma did undetermined damage to his arytenoid, leaving him with perhaps 5% use of his voice. He eventually resigned his pastorate at Zion Fellowship after 13 years and moved his family to Kansas City, Missouri to become affiliated with the International House of Prayer.

All of Sorge’s other titles have been published since his vocal injury. This personal crisis has driven him to his knees, and from the place of prayer he has written more than a dozen other books, many of which have been translated into other languages, such as Spanish, Russian, German, Chinese and Korean. One of Sorge’s primary messages is that of hope, encouraging people to see how God walks individuals through hardship with love and grace. He addresses the issue of suffering head-on and offers biblical answers to the age-old question of why there is suffering in the world.

Able to speak just above a whisper for about an hour a day, Sorge uses what voice he has to speak at churches and conferences both domestically and internationally.
