Dedham High School is the public high school for the town of Dedham, Massachusetts, USA. Dedham High School was established on September 15, 1851. The current principal is Ron McCarthy, he has become active within the school as of 2011. The school currently serves 786 students, grades 9-12. Dedham High School is America's first tax supported, free public school.

History[edit]

Dedham High School first opened on September 15, 1851. The town used the Masonic Hall for the classes until 1854 when they moved location to the Town House on Bullard Street. The summer of 1855 an official school house was built on Highland Street, the school remained in the location for 32 years. A new High School was built on Bryant Street and was occupied on October 2, 1887. The building was transfered into Ames Junior High School in 1915. The new building for the high school was built in 1915 and remained Dedham High School until 1959. The current day High School was originally built in 1959 and has had several renovation until the last renovation in 1999.
