Twitch Installs Arch Linux is a social experiment and channel on the video streaming website Twitch, consisting of a crowdsourced attempt to install the Linux-based operating system Arch Linux by parsing commands sent by users through the channel's chat room.[1]
Premise[edit]
The channel has stated that they will raffle off items when certain milestones are met. These include writing a Hello world script in Python, configuring a X window system and even installing a Game Boy emulator and playing Pokémon.[1]
The channel was influenced by a precursor experiment called Twitch Plays Pokémon, in which users similarly attempted to play and beat many Pokémon games in a crowdsourced chat environment.
Reception[edit]
The event has attracted a lot of media attention.[2][3] Hackaday called it a 'Delightfully Horrible Idea'.[4]
