Northern Lights The Green Team is a « smoke friendly » hip hop group comprised of members from Huntington, WV and Queens, NY.
History and music
[edit]The band was formed in 2004 by Thick Nick, 2Nyce and Black. In may of that year, they recorded their first album, The Foundation. In 2006, the band released The Backroad Musik Mixtape. While doing local shows in West Virginia, the band was introduced to Trip and he was added to the group in 2007. That year, the group were guest speakers in a class at Marshall University.
In 2008, Northern Lights added a 5th member, Cartel. Cartel had previously worked together with Black years before in Queens. The same year, the band released The Mountain Musik Mixtape, and in 2010, on Saint Patrick's Day, they released The Green Team album. [1]
In 2010, Northern Lights was nominated for two 2010 Marijuana Music Awards (Artist of the Year & Album of the Year).
Northern Lights music has been featured on volume 1 and 2 of Jack Herer documentary The Emperor of Hemp.
The group has a few sponsors, including Nug Brand Clothing, Pure Hemp and Mountain High CONES.

Northern Lights has also opened for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Bubba Sparxxx, The Ying Yang Twins, Lil Scrappy, Lil Jon and others[who?][citation needed].
