Anna Wintour born on November 3rd of 1949 (71 years) is currently the editor-in-cheif of Vogue and the global content creator of Condé Nast. She has worked at Vogue since 1988 and has been apart of the Condé Nast team since 2020.

Early Life

Anna Wintour was born in Hampstead, London in 1949. Her parents are Charles Wintour and Eleanor Trego Baker. Wintour was named after er grandmother, Anna Baker. Anna Wintour had four siblings, Gerald Wintour, Patrick Wintour, James Wintour, and Nora Wintour. Unfortunately her oldest brother, Gerald, had died in a traffic accident as a child.

As a young teen, Anna Wintour had gained an interest in fashion early on when watching the show Ready Steady Go! She had begun the wear her signature look , her hair in a bob, at the age of 14. She would also read the Seventeen magazine issues that were sent to her from her grandmother in the United States.

Anna Wintour had been in the fashion industry for a long time. In 1970 she was hired to be one of Harper’s and Queen’s first editorial assistants.

Anna Wintour had started working at an early age (15) due to her father arranging her first job to be at the Biba boutique. The year after she had begun to take fashion classes just to drop it claiming one doesn’t need to learn about fashion but simply just knows it. One of her previous boyfriends had also given her the experience of working at a magazine production. Wintour then began her fashion journalism career when she had started working for Harper’s & Queen as their first editorial assistants. She then went from job to job climbing the ladder of success throughout the fashion industry as editor in a few companies known as Condé Nast and Vogue.

- Wintour was hired as one of the first editorial assistants at Harper’s and Queen in 1970.

- In 1975 Wintour moved to NYC and became junior fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar.

- In 1983, she worked for Vogue and became the magazine's first creative director.

- She became the chief editor of British ‘Vogue in 1985.

- Became editor of Vogue and shot her first cover in November 1988 breaking all rules.

- Since 1990, she has raised funds worth over $10 million for AIDS charities.

- Raised funds for the ‘Twin Towers’ after it was destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terror attack.

- In 2007, Wintour expanded the brand by adding spinoffs.(Teen Vogue, Vogue Living & Men’s Vogue)

- In 2013, she became the artistic director for ‘Condé Nast,’ while retaining her position in ‘Vogue.

- In 2014, she came out in a documentary called ‘The Fashion Fund,’ which is about the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition.
