Cluster B Personality Disorder

Treatment & Medication: There are many different forms of treatment for Cluster B personality disorders. A doctor may recommend psychotherapy, the main form of treatment, which can aid in communicating your thoughts/emotions. However, people diagnosed with Cluster B may find it difficult to form a trusting relationship with a therapist. It takes time and should not be looked as a failure. Your doctor may also recommend dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

DBT is used to help teach new skills and encourage change. It may include group or individual sessions.

CBT focuses on problem solving and teaches the skills to identify problematic thoughts and beliefs. [1]

Currently, there are no medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Cluster B personality disorders. Although, there are a few medications that can help. Antidepressants and antipsychotics can be used to help treat mental disorders. [2]
