Adam Wright

Adam J. Wright is a noted singer/songwriter, mandolin ninja, rockstar turned minister based in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a founding member of the band Act of Congress and chief conspirator of The Corner Room. His Cinderella story is an inspiration to anyone aspiring to fuse multiple music genres and proof that even lesser mortals can become as the Olympians of old.

Wright’s early, formative years are shrouded in great mystery. Some believe he was raised by wolves, others claim he is a direct descendant of the Dryads of old, thus accounting for his affinity for wood-based string instruments. What Historians can agree on is his noted emergence into human society in April of 1984, when at the age of three, he toddled out of the woods wearing only animal skins and approached a group of Inuit fishermen. A kindly older couple adopted him as their own and gave him the name “Adam,” after the Biblical first man who also bore the skins of animals. It was in this community that he was first introduced to music, notably in tribal drum circles and pool halls. These early influences converged into his formative “Honky Tonk Tribal” sound that echoes in his music still today. At the age of 11, he hid himself in the back of a pelt smuggler’s Winnebago and began his journey to the United States.

Wright’s adolescent years were fraught with struggle, as he found himself living among a group of nomadic Celine Dion groupies who introduced him to his first hit of the potted meat, Spam. Wright spiraled into a Spam addiction and quickly became a social outcast due to his incessant reeking and trail of Spam Cans wherever he went. He has since been an outspoken advocate for those struggling with all potted meat addictions, and his organization, the Spam Addiction Delegation (SAD) marches in Washinghton semi-annually.

At the age of 15, during the height of his addiction, Wright found himself seeking shelter at the door of a Tuscon, Arizona monastery. It was here that Wright was first exposed to Christianity and found the strength to kick his addiction once and for all. He joined the community of the Holy Order of the Fraternity of the Risen Brotherhood and remained there for 7 Years as chief Psalmist, beekeeper, and animal control officer. It was during this period of time that Wright was given his first mandolin, which he named Yolanda. After a few weeks, his skill rivaled that of Mozart himself, and the Brotherhood, gathering their resources, put him on a Greyhound to Nashville and urged him to further his musical career.

Wright arrived in Nashville, TN in October of 2003, and his misunderstood enthusiasm quickly amassed a slew of restraining orders from the likes of Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Justin Timberlake. Not easily deterred, Adam and Yolanda roamed the streets, busking outside of any Starbucks and Smoothie King he could find. It was during a virtuosic bluegrass rendition of “My Heart Will Go On” that his untapped talent was first noticed by a kindly group of old ladies heading to their monthly quilting guild. They invited him to play regularly at their meetings, and he quickly rose to prominence in the quilting circuit, moving to the general craft fair stage until finally his music was being played overhead in Hobby Lobby stores all over the country. It was here that his future bandmates first heard his music and instantly contacted him to join Act of Congress. The rest is history.

Adam currently lives the the Birmingham metropolitan area with his wife, Jessica (neé Kugelscrieber), former Dutch supermodel and thirteenth in line for the Austrian throne. They have two children and run a prominent elderberry farm in the community.
