From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Noah Kotch is the Emmy Award winning[1] senior producer who oversees the 7 o'clock hour of the Today Show on NBC, with additional oversight of content in other hours of the program.[2] He is the main gatekeeper to the top-rated news broadcast [3] and is considered difficult to reach. Callers to the Today Show receptionists are not transferred to his office unless they know his assistant's name. [4]

Kotch came under criticism in January 2011 for his decision to replace an annual segment on winners of the Newbery and Caldecott children's book awards with an interview with Snooki.[5]

Kotch joined NBC News after many years at ABC News where he served as Peter Jennings' head writer, and also as a senior producer at Good Morning America and Nightline. He graduated from Yale where he majored in Latin and Ancient Greek and was editor in chief of the Yale Daily News.[6] Kotch grew up in North Carolina, where at age 18 he was profiled as a hotheaded newspaper editor at Chapel Hill High School who butted heads with his principal and added a column on Beverly Hills, 90210 to his publication.[7]
