Bandwidth pooling is used to optimize the use of bandwidth over communication links.

Bandwidth pooling is a service offered by some web hosting companies which allows the bandwidth allowance of a user to be shared across multiple servers or virtual servers.

thepiratebay.org plans to pay file sharers who host popular files thereby reducing the costs of ISPs. This is also referred to as bandwidth pooling. (see [1])
