King is an American metalcore band from Flint, MI formed by Chiodos guitarist Jason Hale in 2007.
The band began as a side project to fulfill Hale's desire for the heavy sound associated with metalcore that he heard from acts such as hardcore metal band Buried Alive and metalcore band Until the End. Hale discovered guitarist Andrew Beal and drummer Andrew Workman and before long, recruited vocalist David Gunn and bassist Eugene Gill. Over the summer of 2008, the band gained some popularity, however according to Hale, had an uneven "practice-to-show ratio", practicing more often than playing shows.[1]
Anachronism 2008-09
[edit]In late 2008, King signed with Equal Vision Records and followed up with a winter tour that ran through December and finished on New Years Eve. The tour was followed by the recording of their full-length album, Anachronism, which was released in June of 2009.[2]
After about 9 months of being on the record label, King dropped from Equal Vision Records with no public statement other than the following that was posted on the bands Myspace page:
“ | We are fuckin' excited to announce we have dropped from Equal Vision Records. We don't have any fake ass reason like 'creative differences' as an explanation here. We're just done.[3] | ” |
2010
[edit]Despite dropping from Equal Vision, King has continued to play shows and write, and has even released a new song via iTunes titled "Dragging Knives."
