Alex Kyle is an acoustic folk / rock artist based in Lincolnshire, England. Alex works primarily as a solo artist but collaborates with other local musicians for live events and recording purposes. Alex has released 2 albums and 1 EP to date, has written the soundtrack for 2 independent films, and the score for 2 performance musicals. He is currently recording a new EP due to be released in the Autumn of 2010.
History: (2001 - Present)[edit]
Alex began working as a solo artist after his Grimsby based Punk-Rock/Grunge group Oblivious Nature disbanded. Alex began the venture as a method to recruit new band members, but soon decided to record as a solo artist - allowing him musical freedom of expression as well as the opportunity to explore musical styles more akin to some of his favourite song writers & bands (Harry Nilsson/Nick Drake/Jimmy Eat World/Idlewild). His guitar of choice was initially a 6 string electro-acoustic Crafter, although presently Alex performs all his live events on his 12 string 'EKO' RANGER acoustic guitar, Claiming that a 12 String not only harmonises his voice alot better but also allows him to "get away with more, both live and in the recording studio".
Alex has played with various other musicians since his first solo concert in 2001, these have included: Sean Jacklin & Ross Beasley
on drums, Chris Weston on Guitar, Jay Rispin on Bass, and his fiancée Gina Hall on Keyboard and Vocals. He is currently jamming and
arranging live events with other local musicians based in Lincolnshire.

Miracles LP: 2001[edit]
In the winter of 2001 Alex entered East Coast Media studio in Grimsby, Lincolnshire to record four new tracks he had written since the break up of his band "Oblivious Nature". With musical support from his father (who went on to write the music for 3 of the albums tracks) Alex went on to record his first solo album (originally entitled: "I don't believe in Miracles EP") over the period 2 weeks. Alex was unhappy with both the recording quality and his own technical ability on the record, and as a result does not make music from the CD readily available for the public. The artwork for the album was designed by the very talented artist Pete Mcrae; a school friend who tragically died in a motorcycle accident a couple of years later.

Words Crafted From Tears: 2004[edit]
After a couple of years of working on improving his musical ability, and setting up his own recording station from home Alex recorded and released his second album "Words Crafted From Tears". Despite his limited experience, and inability to mix non digital drums onto the record Alex went on to promote the CD with live gigs in Leicester, Grimsby, Cleethorpes & Nottingham. The album featured lead guitar by Chris Weston, as well as Vocal and Keyboard work by Gina Hall.

Fable EP: 2006[edit]
Alex's next musical release was a fully solo record, written as the soundtrack to the UK short Film 'Fable' (directed by UK artist Thomas Freeth). The record saw Alex departing from the drum driven rock sound of Words Crafted from Tears and heading towards multi-tracked vocal harmonies, and acoustic guitar work. The EP's second track 'Song For Vision' is still technically a work in progress, despite being penned originally in 2006. Alex intends to eventually release a 'final' version of this song before the end of his musical career.

Alex Kyle: 2011[edit]
Alex is to release a self titled EP in 2011, and has already begun to perform some of the tracks live, to date these have included: Bullet, Chasing Tomorrow, The Race and Tuesday Knight.
Live & Tours[edit]
Alex's recent live performances have included a charity concert at the Matrix Club in Grimsby, Lincolnshire & Playing as part of Lincoln Folk Festival's Six days of folk festival held in the autumn of 2009. At present Alex is recording & mixing his latest record and intends to announce his first full tour since the "Words Crafted From Tears" tour of 2005 shortly after it's release.

Influences[edit]
Alex cites his main musical influences as Harry Nilsson, John Martyn, Idlewild, James Taylor, Minus The Bear, Jimmy Eat World, Kings of Convenience, John Mayer, Elliot, Biffy Clyro, Pink Floyd, Flaming Lips, and Simon & Garfunkel. Although these artists have inspired Alex's music to a large extent the music Alex produces also seems to involve influences ranging from 60's solo artists to contemporary rock and metal, via the medium of folk.
