The Fanboy Buzz is a comics audio podcast that focuses on current mainstream and small-press comic books, featuring creator interviews, reviews, commentary on the comic book craft and industry, comic-related movie discussions and more. Stephen Jondrew and Scott Williams began the Fanboy Buzz podcast in 2010 and the roster of hosts has expanded to include Steve Boyd, Jean Sebastian and Jason Dyer.[1] The hosts express their individual opinions in an informal way that many fans think resembles a discussion between friends hanging out at home or at the local comic shop, giving the podcast a unique point of view.[2]
The Fanboy Buzz has been host to guests such as creators Ethan Van Sciver, Jimmy Palmiotti, Jamal Igle, Greg Pak, Jim Balent, Len Strazewski, Dan Slott, Christopher Yost, among others.[3] Other shows have included various segments, interviews with retailers, and spotlights on specific characters or publishers. Hosts often debate the merits of the digital comics format using apps such as Comixology versus the print comic book format that has been used since the mediums inception. The Fanboy Buzz hosts also regularly visit comic conventions, giving day-to-day overviews of their experiences as attendees, interviewing creators as they promote their upcoming projects and talking to listeners.[4]
The podcast allows interactive communication with its listeners via email, voice mail, as well as social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter. Listeners frequently contact the show with their comments on previous episodes or topics discussed. The podcast also offers the chance to "hijack" a segment as a donation incentive where listeners choose an existing segment on the show and dictate what the topic will be.

The Fanboy Buzz releases episodes on a weekly basis with bonus episodes published at random. Over 100 episodes have been released, ranging from regular shows on current comic books and comic events, to more focused discussions. These discussions include:

The main show, usually showcases the opinions of all five hosts on a variety of topics that generally focus on the world of comic books.
The Nameless News[edit]
Steven Boyd discusses comic book news that doesn't typically make it into the Flagship Show in a rapid fire format.

Scott Williams narrates issues of the 1990s Marvel Comics title, Quasar.

Typically, Jason Dyer and Jean Sebastien host these shows and discuss various movies at length.

Jean Sebastien introduces listeners to comic books that are typically less well known but that he recommends readers pick up.

Jason Dyer reviews titles from the past, often giving quick insights to his life at the time the issue was published.
Issue to Issue[edit]
Hosts of the podcast take turns each week selecting three comic books to review as a group and give their opinions of them on the show.
Controversy[edit]
In the now removed episode 21 of the Fanboy Buzz an interview with comic book writer Jimmy Palmiotti sparked a backlash from fans of comic book writer Gail Simone when host Scott Williams asked how Jimmy and Gail got along so well, referring to Gail as a feminist. In the blog "Girls Read Comics Too", the author discusses the interview at length and the resulting aftermath. [5]
