Jefferson Davis Pie is

a version of the Souther chess pie. It is named after Jefferson Davis the President of the Confederacy. It is believed that it was created during the War Between the States. It is a spicy version of the chess pie. It is related to the pecan pie and the sweet potato pie. It can be baked with chopped dates, dried apricots, crystallized fruits, or raisins.
