RE: 'Weasley Family' comments[edit]

I read your comments on the 'Weasley Family' page and agree that it should be moved to 'Weasley Family'--there's no need for the word 'family' to be capitalized. And since the talk page is silent on the issue, I was hoping you could help me, a poor newbie :), move it...I tried moving it myself, but the page 'Weasley family' already exists and redirects to 'Weasley Family.' Cape May-Lewes Ferry[edit]

I'm not here to lecture you about the Manual of Style or anything else, except to point out that I noticed in the history of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry article, you used your administrative rollback button to revert an edit made by SPUI. Could I just point out that under no circumstances should admin powers be used to win over content disputes? This could be seen as a misuse of sysop rights.

Regardless, there are now at least two links on the page, so as far as I can see, the dispute is over. Regards. Rob Church Talk | Desk 14:57, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. In this case, however, you should have used the old-fashioned method. Rob Church Talk | Desk 15:45, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Please never again unban ...[edit]

You banned Nightbeast (1st) for four changes that were not even reverts. Look at the last alleged revert, which was a comment.

(2nd):

is applied in Talk:Georg Forster a rule created by consensus and added by an administrator, then removed by Polish natioalists.

Reverts to confirm with community consensus are excluded from the 3RR rule. Only the place names can be reverted exempt from the 3RR rule according to the outcome of this vote, additional changes fall again under the 3RR rule. Please use descriptive edit summaries.

(3rd):

Deleting the notice is called Avoidance vandalism and even vandalism justifies a violation of the three revert rule.

You must never trust Witkacy blindly. Please unban User:Nightbeast and delete this message and ask him why he did so before banning him next time. He'd really appreciate it.213.6.40.106 17:25, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

To User:213.6.40.106: You should be banned yourself for offending other people by calling them "nationalists". Name-calling belongs in Kindergarten not in an encyclopedia!Space Cadet 18:47, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
Please take this comment to 213.6.40.106 himself; I'm pretty sure that's User:Nightbeast's IP. --Merovingian (t) (c) 18:49, August 30, 2005 (UTC)
Wow, after I couldn't find your double standard, I've seriously wondered whether my theory that liars often call others what they should be calling themselves is false, after all, I couldn't find an insult by you. But this couldn't be: you're at any rate a liar in my opinion. So I've checked your user contributions, dear cadet, and not least because your edit summaries are always poor or don't even exist, one of your latest 50 edits hit my eye because it had a very nice summary, namely "Is that you, Nico? Or just another moron?". I don't know or care whether you received an answer, but if he was really Nico (a friend from the kindergarten?): wow, the world is so small. Of course I must admit you cannot always help acting your age but still I doubt children prefer to label each other a "moron" to labelling one another a "nationalist". Anyway you're quite a talented one: I couldn't write back then :þ Oh and before I forget: good luck, Space Cadet, for your new ego trip in protest against the Gdansk-Danzig ruling, naming every city against the convention and thus intentionally violating the rule again and again and again and again. Space Cadet, when you point at someone, at least three fingers (of yours) inevitably point back at your direction.NightBeAsT 11:45, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

Nightbeast[edit]

Ever heard of the saying "Zum Streiten gehören immer 2" (= "argueing always involves 2 persons"), Witkacy? It's what grown-ups tell little children in Germany usually when the grown-ups think a child only tells what the others have done to him and *forgets* to tell about what the child has done himself. If you have a problem with me, Witkacy, forward the dispute to dispute resolution or are you afraid of its outcome?NightBeAsT 23:28, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

I notice you made this stub on a town in Wales and...erm...gave it the England-geo-stub template. Be careful or you'll get complaints from the valleys! Grutness...wha? 07:44, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

I thought it was probably a case of stubbing a batch of articles at once. And yes, I'm definitely back in action (thanks)! Grutness...wha?

A future loss[edit]

Could you please head back to the VFD page and fill in the others on what these people have released and where they played and whether the meet any of the other WP:MUSIC guidelines. A little proof/documentation of those facts would be appreciated as well. - Mgm|(talk) 09:45, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

History of Alaska[edit]

Hi, I've been working on History of Alaska, and I've nominated it to be a featured article at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/History of Alaska. It's only five days old, so someone objected, and said he would only change or withdraw his vote if an Alaskan says it's all right. I noticed that you lived in Alaska, so could you please help me out? Toothpaste 23:11, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

re User:Merovingian/sand[edit]

Could you please either put a "nowiki" tag around your the categories in the article in your sandbox or use a colon to make it a link until you make the article live? (like so: [[:Category:German linguists]]) Otherwise, it shows up in the categories prematurely, as it current does in Category:German linguists. Thanks in advance. Chrissy Moran[edit]

Hi, Ryan! Long time no see. Hope you're enjoying the long weekend. Anyway, that "Chrissy Moran" was recreated with that template and locked out so the dinglefritz who's been recreating it won't be able to. Put him on a 48-hour block and is he ever ticked off. I love this job.  :) - Lucky 6.9 05:36, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Yup. I know it looks really weird in the new pages patrol with a length of only fifteen bits; I don't blame you for deleting it. I've listed it on the list of protected pages, but the only way to block it is to create it. Computers. Go figure. - Lucky 6.9 05:42, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
You know, adding a non-existent but pesky recreation on one's watch list is positively brilliant! I think I'll do that rather than take up server space. Great idea!! - Lucky 6.9 05:47, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
Something's got to give. The pathetic little weasel who posted it in the first place is ranting against me on the anon talk page. Personally, I think he's hilarious. Anyone who thinks put-downs need to consist of disgusting sex acts is sorely unimaginative. - Lucky 6.9 05:52, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
Good question. My gut says to go with a mailing list. More impressarios might see it sooner and can react to it. - Lucky 6.9 05:55, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
LOL! I just put a permanent block on the IP, which brings up another question: How do I determine whether or not this is an open proxy? I don't want to block legit users. - Lucky 6.9 05:59, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
Cool. Hopefully, this yahoo's on a static IP, so he can eat his heart out. Booyah! - Lucky 6.9 06:04, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
I hope he does. Watching autoblocks on the block list page will make me smile. - Lucky 6.9 06:08, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

US-geo-stubs[edit]

Hi. I've noticed several good US-geo-stub articles created by you recently. I just wanted to let you know that there are subcategories to Category:US geography stubs, and you can add a more specific stub tag to your articles. This would help alleviate going back through and sorting the stubs. Thanks! — Fingers-of-Pyrex 12:20, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

you founded the assoc. of inclusionist wikipedians! word![edit]

There's this language template that I created. there are some seemingly resonable people w/ apprently good intentions trying to delete it on- wait for it- a page for deleting stuff. most of them are nice and civil but I think they're a bit compulsive w/ th housekeeping sometimes. could you possibly link me up with anyone who could help me out? thankz, Ish Micka Vonn aAmerikazakh 17:32, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

Yeah. the template look can be re-created. it's not really about a template in the mainspace. I mainly realized all I want is 2 categories in the main space for speakers and native speakers. do you know if a category can be imitated using the userspace? is there perhapz a way to use meta? can you have a meta catgory for en:wikipedia pages?
well. I caused you to vote to delete a template. is that a first? did I make history? what compelled you to vote? the only explicit reason you gave was templates should be 'available' to all users. I think I get the jist, but what'd u mean by that? do you vote on much stuff that comes across your attention? Do you sometimes see debates, get interested then say "fuck it" and decide not to weigh in? I never vote to delete stuff, personally. not in my personality. so- good thing it's not my 'pedia.
last thing- where can I learn more about your personal (or inclusionists') extreme limits of what you think is includable on wikipedia? have you become less inclusionist since you founded the assoc.? thankz for the consideration, Ished-out amounts of Vonn-ness 03:31, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

Where?[edit]

Hi merovingian - a few days back you made a stub article that... well, it's not quite right. Either the info needs to be changed, or the article title does, but I've no idea which. have a look at Acton Township, North Dakota, and you'll see what I mean! Oh - and come back soon :) Grutness...wha? 11:35, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

re: UuU[edit]

Good evening. This article came up at WP:VFU. Looking at the deletion log, it appears that you speedy-deleted this redirect. I can't find a speedy deletion case that applies. I took the liberty of speedy-restoring it. If you really think this deserves deletion, would you please nominate it at WP:RFD? Thanks. Rossami (talk) 21:46, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Bali bombing emotions[edit]

The person was putting this in Bali entry, from a dubious entry point and is repeating the violation. I put it over to the bombing entry as it did have a few items of news and presumed someone might edit it, not remove. But then thats wiki for ya! Seeya.vcxlor 14:30, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

Regarding Ashida Kim[edit]

Greetings! I have been monitoring Ashida Kim-related stuff lately, including his message boards. Regarding your offer to delete the article, please note that there was a vote for deletion already, and consensus was to keep.

I will admit upfront to having a personal bias against Ashida Kim; however, I would be very interested in a proper NPOV treatment of the article. There are definitely problems with the current article.

I am also convinced that the more pertinent, NPOV information about Ashida Kim we include, the less Mr. Kim himself will like it. This suggests that a proper, mutually acceptable resolution to the problem may be impossible. I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong. --Ashenai (talk) 15:54, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Final Fantasy N64 AfD[edit]

Mero, I noticed your vote over the Final Fantasy N64 articles for deletion vote. I wasn't sure if you were aware of this, but the article in question is actually redundant. The original article, Final Fantasy SGI demo, has been around for a number of months, and is better cited and researched (IMO, of course). I was wondering if I could ask you to consider changing your "keep" vote to "merge"? If not, I apologize for bothering you. – Seancdaug 02:41, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Alaska Native Corporations[edit]

You changed the link on Alaska Natives from [[Alaska Native Corporations]] to [[Alaska Native Corporation]]s. Was there a reason for this? Neither article exists at this time, and the more common usage seems to be to refer to the ANCs as a whole, even when refering to one of them (e.g. "one of the Alaska Native Corporations" not "an Alaska Native Corporation"), as they were created together for the same purpose (each representing a region). -Harmil 21:47, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Actually, nevermind. I'm going to go ahead and create the article so that we can clear this all up once and for all (it's been on my todo list for ages). -Harmil 21:51, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
Point taken, but Wikipedia always has to bow to the way that a phrase, word, name, etc. is used in the real world. In this case, however, it was a bit stickier than I thought. See the results at: Alaska Native Regional Corporations.

56 Aquilae[edit]

Hey there: I nominated deletion on this article because you have given nothing to explain the notability of the star. If you want to work on that, maybe we could get somewhere. I'll do some research this evening, but really, where will wikipedia get if people decide to catalog every single star without at least an effort at describing it in such detail as to warrant its place in an encyclopdia?
--Daniel Lotspeich 04:08, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

I changed my vote to keep. I'm also joining AIW. I'll expand the 56 Aquilae article to make it look good!--Daniel Lotspeich 04:15, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
