MediaSoundHamburg is an international summer academy for FilmMusic, GameMusic and SoundDesign, which has been held annually in Hamburg since 2011.

MediaSoundHamburg is aimed at an audience interested in film, music and sound.

Every year, national and international film composers, gamemusicians and sound designers meet with international professionals and renowned experts. During the 10-day summer academy different MasterClasses, workshops, forums and special events are offered.

MediaSoundHamburg is a project of the International Film Television & Music Academy (IFFMA).

History[edit]

MediaSoundHamburg was founded by Hans-Joachim Esser-Mamat (director/artistic director), who has been organising similar events since 1995, such as the European Workshops for Film Music & Sound Design and the filmwerkstatt essen.

Young Talent Award Media Music[edit]

MediaSoundHamburg has been presenting the Young Talent Award Media Music since 2014. The theme of the composition competition in 2017 was "Storytelling". The competition is open to everyone. The maximum age is 35 years. The winners will be selected by an international independent jury and will receive a scholarship for participation in MediaSoundHamburg, including accommodation and meals.

The award ceremony will take place during the MediaSoundHamburg.

Scholarships[edit]

Each year MediaSoundHamburg awards scholarships for participation in the Summer Academy. The scholarship includes free participation in all MasterClasses, workshops, forums and special events as well as accommodation and meals.
