4D Engineering new article content ... 4D Engineering is a race car engineering and composites company that started was in 2005 by father and sone team Martyn and Mathew Dobson. Initially the company was called 4D Motorsport and its main activities were running Formula ford racing cars in club championships and the British Formula Ford championship. In its first year the eam one the Avon tyres clubman championship with Matt Dobson driving a Swift with a ford zetec engine. Then two years later, in 2007, the team also won the British Formula Ford scholarship championship for year old cars with the team winning 15 races from 17 starts. In 2008 they stepped upto the main British championship class with a Van Diemen chassis.

A change in name also folowed in 2008 to 4D Engineering. This saw the company gain contracts to supply staff and engineering experties to a number of projects including a Historic formula one team and the McRae dakar project.

In 2009 Martyn Dobson passed away from illness, however the business is still continueeing to grow under the leadership of Matt Dobson.

It Now has a composites department (that was set up in 2009) that speialise in race car composites for historic racing cars. some of the cars that they have made bodyork for include, AMON, Arrows, Hesketh, Lotus, Lola, Williams and Surtees. They specialise in wet-lay carbon fibre that was used in period for these cars and are able to create light weight carbon fibre panels that are also etreemly strong.
