The October 2017 nor’easter was a powerful extratropical cyclone that struck the Northeastern United States in late October of 2017. The system impacted the same regions that had been struck by Hurricane Sandy exactly 5 years earlier. The storm had complex origins, forming on October 29 near the southeastern United States from the interaction of an upper-level disturbance and the remnants of Tropical Storm Philippe, which helped inject tropical moisture into the developing low.
