Henry Adams (1846-1935) was an academic civil and mechanical engineer[1] based at the City of London College.[2]

Adams was a professor of engineering at the City of London College for 35 years. To supplement his classroom instruction, he wrote Notes in Mechanical Engineering, which was later published as the book Handbook for Mechanical Engineers.

Adams was a Queen's medallist in science, a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Civil Engineers and a former president of the Society of Engineers. From 1914 to 1916, he has president of the Institution of Structural Engineers[3] (then known as the Concrete Institute) and was awarded their Gold Medal in January 1923.[4]
