Miikey D "Michael Dean-Smith" (born 17 April 1985) is an Australian drummer from Blackwood, Adelaide that is based in London, England and is best known to be the drummer for the db band and The Krissy Matthews Band. He has also played for Australian artists Cassie Davis and Nathan Gaunt.

Career[edit]

Miikey's recording career started in 2003 with an underground ska/punk band Two For Flinching that he and his friends put together from a Tafe course in Perth, Western Australia, the band did a series of local shows and released a self released single "by the beach". He then left the band to join WAMI award winner Nathan Gaunt and tour as the drummer for his backing band The Black Eyed Dogs. Miikey was with Gaunt for two years and never released any material with the artist. Miikey left Nathan Gaunt in 2005 and joined Hip Hop producer FDEL's band and spent the next 18 months touring Australia heavily.

Miikey subsequently joined a series of local Perth bands and had a very brief stint with Australian singer/producer Cassie Davis (the two made a promise in primary school) before moving to Oxford, England in 2009.

In 2010 Mick Quinn from Supergrass put together the db band and asked Miikey to join. The band has toured France, Holland and The UK and an EP from the group is expected to be released in summer 2011. Miikey has also worked with Charly Coombes on several studio projects as well as his own band The New Breed.

Miikey is currently working with producer Mike Hurst on his new artist Henry Parker. Miikey has recorded the single and the title track to the debut record and will also be featured in the music video.
