Buyagift PLC is a UK-based experience day company headquartered in Borehamwood, United Kingdom. It offers experience days packaged as gifts in the form of redeemable vouchers.

The experiential gifts business model is based on the concept used by Red Letter Days, an English company founded by Rachel Elnaugh, a panellist on the BBC show Dragons’ Den. [1]

Founded in 1999 by Dan Mountain[2], Buyagift PLC was bought by the French international company Smart&co S.A.S on September 8, 2009, making it part of Smartbox Group.

History[edit]

Dan Mountain founded Buyagift on 25 November 1999. His brother bought the domain buagift.co.uk and Mountain began working on the business from his home in Muswell Hill, North London, leaving his job as an estate agent. [2] [3] The company had no HR director for the first eight years of business. [2]

In 2008 the company was put up for sale, allowing the angel investor Jon Moulton to leave. [2] On 12 December 2008, Buyagift applied for and were declared as a Private Limited Company.[4]

On 27th March 2017, Buyagift's registered office address moved from New Barnet to Borehamwood.[4]
