Benjamin Paul Harrell is an American YouTuber and retired soldier who films videos about firearms.

Videos[edit]

Harrell joined Youtube on April 22, 2012. He has since published 409 videos regarding firearm tactics, hunting, concealed carry, home defense, and the like.

Personal life[edit]

Harrell resides in Oregon and is the son of a Police Officer. He is married with children, and is an avid hunter.

Military Service[edit]

Harrell enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an 0311 Infantryman in 1984, attending recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. During his time in the Marines, he served as a combat marksmanship instructor at the Marine Corps Security Forces School. He also attended training at Gunsite.

After being honorably discharged, he enlisted into the Oregon Army National Guard, again as an Infantryman. As a member of the 162nd Infantry Regiment, he deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia in the early Global War on Terrorism. Harrell attended Air Assault School, Advanced Leaders Course, Master Fitness Trainer course, and won several shooting competitions, including 6 state championships, a regional championship, a national championship, and an international pistol championship.

He retired as a Sergeant First Class in 2007.

2006 shooting[edit]

On November 25, 2006, at the Grizz Flats campsite, just outside of Troy, Oregon, Harrell was involved in a self-defense shooting to protect his wife from an assailant using a truck as a weapon. He fired six shots with a semi-automatic rifle, and the perpetrator died at the hospital. He was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, two counts of first degree assault, menacing and first degree criminal mischief.

He was released on $250,000 bail following his Nov. 27 arraignment, at which time the charges were reduced to manslaughter in the first degree. In June 2007, he was freed by a Grand Jury and the charges were dismissed. [2]

During his service Harrell received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge,Army Commendation Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze "Hourglass" and "M" device, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral "2", Army Service Ribbon, Marine Corps Expert Rifle Badge, Marine Corps Expert Pistol Badge, Army Expert Badge with the "Rifle" and "Pistol" component bars, 2 overseas service bars, and at least six enlisted service stripes.

He was voted "Most likely to survive the apocalypse" at the 2024 Gundies Awards.
